The vote is going to happen this morning. Please call your Senators NOW.

This was sent out by Ron's Campaign for Liberty, on Facebook:

The most important vote in the ENTIRE fight over gun control will take place THIS MORNING in the U.S. Senate when Harry Reid attempts to move gun control to the floor.

That's why it's critical you sign your Stand With Rand Filibuster Fax Petition IMMEDIATELY to urge your U.S. Senators to support Rand Paul's filibuster.

Sign your fax petition HERE >> http://www.chooseliberty.org/swrongunsa.aspx?pid=fb

After you've signed your petition, please call both your senators at 202-224-3121 and insist they Stand with Rand and filibuster the motion to proceed on the statists' gun control scheme!

11 EST - make them know that you KNOW this is the key vote, not the bill vote, because this is the one that can be won to defend the constitution as ALL of them took an oath to do!

I'll contact my Senator (again), but as one is Feinstein who already showed her lack of understanding of the Constitution, I can't see my call doing more than underlining to her the extent of the opposition. Still, she needs to know....

I think yes, to dissuade them from greater efforts by letting them be aware it isn't only other people's constituents who care. I'm in Ca.

I know how you feel. I called Sherrod Brown's office. I have about as much chance of influencing him to support the filibuster as, well, come up with your own metaphor.

Sadly I don't even think Rob Portman is going to support the filibuster....what I don't get is the ingorance of some of the Senators. Especially when you have the CT senators saying things like "this is the first step to putting together a good package."

Every gun grabber talks about the progression. This is just step 1.

Ok good. 14 Republicans have defected so far, including Flake who said he was surprised the NRA was scoring this vote. Begich and Pryor voting to support the filibuster.

I don't understand what's happened to Coburn over the last year or two. He used to be about the most conservative Senator we had.

If that isn't proof of a sell out mentality.... 'just as long as he isn't in the spot light...'

Procedural votes are OFTEN the most important vote if that is the one you can win, and pretending they aren't is disingenuous.

?? He did just vote no against bringing the bill to the floor for a vote. We shall have to wait to see if he joins in the filibuster when the bill is (almost certainly) brought to the floor.

Am I missing something?

edit: yes, my understanding of filibuster and cloture is lacking. :o

Debate is going to happen. I just don't think it will pass. What is in Reid's gun bill, because that is what is being advanced to the floor?

Why are you going to spend time doing something that is not going to influence any senator? These people need to be reminded of their oath of office, and how constitutional amendments work.

A for effort though at this point.

amongst other things it would let your doctor, without your knowledge, put you on a mental condition list because of some comment you made, so you can't get a gun, per reports I've seen. I haven't read it myself, though.

I heard that was part of the Manchin-Toomey bill which will be offered as an amendment. I'll try and look what's in the baseline.

They'll say they have no problem with a debate.

They took an oath to defend the Constitution and if the procedural vote is the one it takes to kill infringement they are oath bound to vote procedurally.

They will continue to downplay the importance of a procedural vote, and reaffirm their commitment to protecting the 2nd Amendment.

Get rid of McCain, and Flake will behave. Although I have to say that by the time McCain is gone, Flake may have become a full-time RINO...that's sad.

Thankfully, it seems that Tim Scott has not followed Graham's lead and has bucked him on many votes including this one. Flake should spend more time with Scott, Cruz, and others and stay away from bad influence.

The Dems have a majority in the Senate. Writing to them is an unwinnable battle. What we have to do is get the Republican majority House to stop this. Contact your local representatives.

And Boehner who is rumored to be planning to violate the Hastert rule and bring it forth even if a majority of GOP would vote against it.
