Lawmakers in the Florida Senate voted unanimously this week to ban law enforcement agencies from using surveillance drones in the Sunshine State.

During a Wednesday morning hearing, members of the Senate agreed 39-0 that police departments should be spared the power to conduct overhead spy missions using unmanned aerial vehicles, except in situations where the US Department of Homeland Security believes that drones could deter a high-risk terrorist attack.

"It's fine to kill terrorists in Afghanistan and Pakistan with drones, but I don't think we should use them to monitor the activities of law-abiding Floridians," Senator Joe Negron (R-Stuart) told his colleagues when he first introduced his bill for discussion.

Good.

A committee in the CA legislature unanimously passed on the bill to nullify NDAA here, as well. even if they never do that with gun control laws, the idea that ALL states may end up with SOME federal law they feel justified in opposing for Constitutional reasons, is a great thing.
