Apparently they intend to play the 'I voted against the bill and only didn't vote against the bill when I actually could have stopped it procedurally' game, and pretend they believe we believe them.

Don't they actually have to get 60 votes twice in order to pass the bill, once on the motion to proceed to the bill and then again on the motion to end debate? Or is that incorrect?

Does anyone know whether this is going to be the first closure vote or the final closure vote?

All I know is what is in the article. I'm assuming both.

Yes, Rand - or any senator - can insist on 60 votes at every stage i.e motion to proceed and final passage. He should also take to the floor and take over the debate. He should make points of order if there is any revenue origination on constitutional grounds because those bills cannot originate in the Senate.

Didn't Stockman say he was going to blue slip the bill if it passed the Senate?

I guess we'll see

Yeah but the battle isnt with the House yet. We have to try and kill it in the Senate.

If anything passes then we have to work on Congress.
