Oh my goodness. I was told another famous Austrian economist is also speaking at Porcfest. This is getting a little ridiculous. Lancaster, New Hampshire is a small town and Roger's Campground is a campground. This is not the Ludwig von Mises Institute in Auburn, Alabama.

Some questions.

Are yall accepting of libertarian leaning conservatives like myself who are not an-caps, min-arcs or hard core libertarians?

What is the average cost for this?

Are there any females there or is this a typical libertarian even with a 20 to 1 ratio of men to women? Not that I am trying to get laid but eye candy is nice.

Thanks,

Pretty much anyone except police and government agents is welcomed at Porcfest. As for the FSP statement of intent, if you join the FSP, here it is. http://freestateproject.org/soi Many classical liberal, libertarian leaning conservatives, an-caps and so on should have no problem signing it. You don't have to join the FSP to attend Porcfest, though.

What is the average cost for this?
There was a $35 special but that is up. A ticket is now $50 to attend the event (kids free). Plus you have to pay for a camping site. I think those are $30ish per night but you can split a site with someone else (or even several people). 2 adults are allowed to share a site at no extra cost. a 3rd and 4th adult may also share that site, but would need to pay the Campground $5 a day. If you don't want to stay at the campground (maybe you want to sleep at a motel in town?) there is a $5 day fee charged by the Campground.

So, for a single person this will likely cost you $50 plus up to $15 or so every night you stay their at a shared tent site. A single person with 2 kids would be the same price since kids are free and they wouldn't cost you any extra in camping. Then there is the transportation costs. There are 5 airports within 3 hours of Lancaster, NH. Well, there is a closer airport in Lebanon, NH but I think it only has planes from NYC and Boston.

Are there any females there or is this a typical libertarian even with a 20 to 1 ratio of men to women? Not that I am trying to get laid but eye candy is nice.
There will be 1,000-1,600 people. Men and women of all ages will be there but most will be under 60. Of the 1,500 or so people that might be there, maybe 1/3ish will be women.

Pretty much, if it is discussed in the Economics & Sound Money forum ( http://www.ronpaulforums.com/forumdisplay.php?204-Economics-amp-Sound-Money ), It will be discussed in great detail at Porcfest. Of course, you don't have to attend the events as there are often 3 officials events (and several unofficial things) happening at the same time.

Dr. Mary Ruwart was a keynote speaker at the 2009 Liberty Forum in Nashua, New Hampshire. Now she is coming back to New Hampshire. She seems to like the state. She endorsed the Free State Project. Dr. Ruwart has endorsed the FSP multiple times, including this endorsement.

"I've heard a lot about it, I think it's a great idea, that's how we can get a concentrated dose of libertarianism in one state, and hopefully make a change in that state. Does the Free State Project have Dr. Mary Ruwart's endorsement? Absolutely!"

IMO, she is the most famous female liberty leader in the country. In case you cannot make it to Porcfest, here is a short interview with her from the 2009 Liberty Forum.

Dr. Mary Ruwart, Author of Healing Our World, Coming to NH Porcupine Freedom Festival
Posted on April 24, 2013 by Keith DeSantis

Dr. Mary J. Ruwart will be at the Free State Project’s 2013 Porcupine Dr. Mary Ruwart Freedom Festival this June in Lancaster, New Hampshire. Dr. Ruwart is a research scientist, ethicist, libertarian writer/activist and author of award winning international bestseller “Healing Our World”. She will have two talks June 19th-20th: “The Future of the Libertarian Movement” and “The ONLY Solution to the Health Care Crisis”. Her books will also be available for purchase at the event.

During a May 17th, 2008 interview on New Hampshire based Free Talk Live, Dr. Mary Ruwart said she is a long time supporter of the Free State Project and officially endorsed it on-air. You can listen to that interview here. She also delivered a lecture titled “The Deadly Secrets Behind Soaring Pharmaceutical Prices” at the 2009 New Hampshire Liberty Forum, available here.

Not sure. About 1/3 of the stuff was filmed and put online from Porcfest 2012 but that is much more than during most years. I haven't heard anything about that crew doing it again this year so likely, almost nothing will be filmed in a very high quality way. Maybe some of the bigger stuff like this, maybe. Your best bet is to attend :)

There is other stuff besides economics.

I saw this on the FSP Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/FreeStateProject.org) yesterday. It is a little hard to read but you can see it in larger font if you click on the registration link.

Roger’s Campground only has RV sites left for PorcFest, but don’t worry if you aren’t coming in an RV -- you can tent camp on these sites too. Make sure to claim your spot before they sell out completely! Area motels still have rooms available, and you can post on the PorcFest Facebook group to find others interested in sharing a room or campsite. And visit our Ride Share page if you need a lift or have a seat to sell.

What's New?
Our interactive Agora Valley map is live on the PorcFest website so you can start planning your shopping, eating, and shmoozing. Read up on vendors both old and new, and if you’ve got an Agora Valley spot and want to be represented on the map, please send your site name, number, and a short description to: vend@porcfest.com.

So you just got a tasty ice cream cone or taco from Agora Valley and you want to sit down somewhere to enjoy it? Head to the new picnic area in front of the red cabin and have a comfortable meal or snack with friends.

We’ve got social activities of all flavors this year! You’ll find opportunities to belt out that ballad at the Karaoke Party, put your trivia knowledge to the test with a Libertarian Pub Quiz, dance at parties from UNCE to Swing to Buzz's Big Gay Dance Party, and watch Freedom Feud, a new PorcFest game show where the answers are polled from you and the rest of the FSP community. See it all, and more, on the Schedule page.

Soap Box Idol is Baaaaaack!
by Carla Gericke
Now in its fifth year, this Saturday night signature event will be bigger and better and brighter, but with fewer competitors. This year, only 7 finalists will compete for the championship slot. Six contestants will be selected from those who audition during the week, and one slot will be auctioned off that evening as an FSP fundraiser, so bring your wallet--Bitcoin or otherwise--and be prepared to rant or to sponsor someone to do so.

Soap Box Idol is your chance to let the community know what’s on your mind. Your piece must be 3 minutes or less when spoken out loud. If you go over your time, dire things will happen (remember when Queen Quill fried the mic with a water gun?). Also, one would think this goes without saying, but since it actually happened, contestants are expected to keep their clothes on while on stage. Like buck naked spontaneity? Here’s a Porcfest Pro Tip: Attend the auditions. In our community, people have THINGS. TO. SAY, and whether it is laugh out loud funny or somewhat cringe-worthy, these auditions are never dull.

Since it is Porcfest’s tenth anniversary, we are introducing a new element: the Porcademy Awards. This award ceremony, which will be interspersed between rants, will honor folks who have made significant contributions to the FSP.

Soap Box Idol Rules:
1. You must audition during one of the scheduled audition times. This means no random cornering of Queen Quill when she has her guard down (and her beer up).
2. The names of the finalists and the order in which you will appear will be posted in the Pavilion by 3 p.m. on Saturday. (That’s right when the Group Photo takes place, don’t miss it!)
3. You may rant on any subject. The format of the rant is up to you (poems and lists have won in the past), but make it count. Make it matter. The folks who do best, prepare. Write it out. Time it. Practice.
4. One point overall is deducted for each minute you go over your allotted 3 minutes. Also, see “dire things” above.
5. Judges will give feedback and a numeric score out of 5. The contestant with the highest score wins. In the event of a tie, the winner is selected by the audience through an “applause-o-meter test” as determined by the emcee, the illustrious Bob Murphy.
6. For $%#@! sake, this event is not very child-friendly. Parental discretion is advised.

Congratulations to our past Soap Box Idol Champions:
2009: Seth Cohn
2010: Catherine Bleish
2011: Emily Sandblade
2012: John X
2013: Could it be you?

Speakers and Panels
In addition to Lew Rockwell's keynote speech, "Our Job As Libertarians," we continue to confirm and announce exciting speakers and panels. Mary Ruwart, author of Healing Our World and former Liberty Forum keynote, will be speaking twice during the week, giving talks entitled “The ONLY Solution to the Health Care Crisis” and “The Future of the Libertarian Movement.”

Reminisce along with Lew Rockwell, Joe Salerno, Yuri Maltsev, and moderator Bob Murphy on Saturday afternoon at the Remembering Rothbard panel. In this panel, some of Murray Rothbard's leading disciples discuss his wonderfully humorous personality, his sharp logic, as well as his contributions to economics, philosophy and the cause of liberty.

“Professional Caveman” John Durant will be giving an overview of the Paleo lifestyle, hosting a barefoot running clinic, and explaining his theory on the age-old question, “Why Do Libertarians Love Paleo?”

Learn how jury nullification can keep those accused of victimless crimes out of jail with a Saturday panel discussion featuring former NH Speaker of the House Bill O’Brien and successful juror-nullifier Cathleen Converse.

Our Wonderful Sponsors
Thanks to our sponsors, Platinum Sponsor SatoshiDice, Silver Sponsor Mail-to-Jail, and Bronze Sponsors Porcupine Real Estate and The Atlas Society.

You can still sponsor PorcFest and help support the event while getting great advertising and perks. Visit the sponsor page to find out more about the levels and benefits.

There are still some RV sites left for tents or RVs at Roger's Campground where Porcfest is held. I think the motel across the street and 3 or 4 others in town still have openings. Remember, several people can share the same RV site. Put 2 2 man tents on an RV site? No Problem!

Gary Johnson was just announced yesterday. Another cool announcement today! Kelly Halldorson, a unschool mother from New Hampshire, will be speaking at Porcfest (http://porcfest.com/). Kelly has been on TV, radio shows, blogs, podcasts and so on. She owns and drivers the Unschool Bus, which has a following of its own. The UnSchool Bus has over 25,000 likes on Facebook. https://www.facebook.com/theUnschoolBus Check out Kelly's website. http://www.kelly.halldorson.com/

If you spent more than a day helping at the Concord, NH Ron Paul office, you are likely familiar with Kelly, or at least the Unschool Bus, as it was hard to miss. She and her family were super volunteers for Ron Paul and we can all be thankful for the weeks of their lives they dropped everything and helped Ron Paul in 2012.

Join Kelly at PorcFest for informative and interactive sessions on the following topics:

• Unschooling Liberty
• Education in New Hampshire
• Liberty Parenting
• Women in Liberty

Sadly, the 4th most used venue at Porcfest (the Bingo Hall) recently burned down. The building was right next to the swimming pool and stored all of the pool equipment. A few of the children's activities happened in the Bingo Hall. There were also a couple bathrooms in the building, though there are also a couple bathrooms 200 feet away. There is even video of it burning. The child events that might have been held at the Bingo Hall might be moved to the arcade (under the media room where the radio shows, podcasts and movies happen) or a separate giant tent.

Lots of news. Registration online is Closed. You must register in person, now.

As posted above, 1 of the buildings, the Bingo Hall, burned down. So there will be an additional large tent located on the campground for events.

There is also a new venue this year, the Freecoast Cabana where 30 events happen. So if you are wondering why the price of Porcfest was $35 early bid, $50 pre-registration and $75 at the door (a little higher than last year), having many more high quality speakers than ever before and an additional venue plus 50 more events than usual are some of the main reasons. $30 day passes were instituted this year so if you just come for the weekend, you can get 2 day passes for $60 and enjoy the weekend, if you forget to register online from between Feb and June 1st when online registration was open.

Unfortunately, Lew Rockwell had a personal issue and will not be able to attend Porcfest. Michael Boldin is the founder and executive director of the Tenth Amendment Center will be replacing Lew and giving 1 of the several keynote speeches at Porcfest. So instead of Lew at 7pm on Friday, Michael will be speaking.

There will be 3 big, free dance parties. There is a swing dance party with free lessons. The is a big gay dance party, that is free this year because of many generous donations. There is also the UNCE dance party. It kinda the party you would expert if you went to a big club in a big city.

Rumors were true. Peter Schiff and family showed up at Porcfest. Peter introduced Gary Johnson. I'm still waiting for an official total but my guess is over 1,700 people attended Porcfest. Unfortunately for the government, many of them never made it into the group photo. The light rain had something to do with that. Government agents, if you want more people in the group photo next year, please prevent it from raining on Saturday.

Here is my public service to all of the government workers monitoring this Forum. Here is the Porcfest 2013 group photo.
