All of the popular talk these days about "securing the borders" is a lie to enable a push for amnesty and more immigration. It won't solve anything.

Securing the border completely is impossible, and it's only a symptom. It's expensive, and it spawns all kinds of anti-liberty consequences.

We don't need a militarized border, with electric fences, armed drones, and shoot to kill orders. People should be welcome to travel and visit. The problem occurs when people stay too long, and become defacto citizens. Enforce labor laws and eliminate welfare and other hand out programs. Eliminate the incentives. The borders were never terribly secure, but there was not a problem with so many coming here to live and work when labor laws were enforced. No one talks about that, because it's one of the things that actually works.

And get rid of the the immigration checkpoints that are not actually on the border. Save some money, and save the Fourth Amendment.

"Secure the damn border" - perpetual fraud John "Amnesty" McCain. It should be obvious that this is a huge fraud based on the politicians and pundits who back it.

Nothing stops foreign undocumented Democrats like using only half of a R/T airline ticket. It's the latest trick to US residency and eventually, amnesty/citizenship.

Obama has already achieved a net of zero immigration due to his econimics, what's the border for, to keep us in?

My concern is that we are ultimately not taking into account that not every terrorist in the world is a CIA asset, and if drugs can cross the border so can weapons. All it takes is a few mushroom clouds and everyone would wish we actually had secure borders.

It's not a trick, it's been done forever and it's the only way to get here unless you're not residing in Mexico. I remember rejecting many customers who had an 'empty' foreign passport. They flew here and never flew back.

Yep, borders have no effect on that. But hey, we love to spend trillions on non-productive and counter-productive measures.
