State Rep. Bryan Spencer has been fired from his teaching job in the Francis Howell School District — a move he challenged in court on Thursday.
The district’s board, in a closed session Monday night, voted 5-2 to dismiss Spencer after previously refusing to give him an unpaid leave of absence while he’s in the Legislature.
“Mr. Spencer has breached his contract … by refusing to perform his duties” as a teacher since early January when his House term began, the board said in its decision.
Moreover, the board said, giving him a leave in the middle of the school year would be disruptive to students.
