Tom Dilorenzo's entire comment is quite interesting, as is his article that he links in the comment, but it is this one line that I specifically wanted to discuss:

(This is the same group of communistic crackpots who convinced Big Sister Janet Napolitano to publicly announce that people with Ron Paul bumper stickers on their cars may be considered potential terrorists by her Department of Fatherland Security (http://www.lewrockwell.com/dilorenzo/dilorenzo110.html)).

Did this actually happen? How did this actually happen? How could anyone possibly see a Ron Paul Bumper Sticker as proof of terrorist connections? I initally thought that this article link was in fact proof that J. Napolitano had declared Ron Paul Bumper Stickers to be evidence of possible terrorism, but it was in fact on a somewhat different topic. Does anyone have any link that this actually happened? I don't necessarily doubt it, but I find it amazing that if it did I haven't heard until now.

Doesn't that make more than half the country terrorists, based on all of those put together? In fact "Anti-abortion" would probably cover half the country by itself...

It doesn't surprise me that they would try to do something like this, but how the crap do they get away with it? I honestly expected the beast to be a little more subtle than that. Not less dangerous, but subtle.

Yes, more than half actually.

And the other half are some other type of felon.

That's why it's called a police state.

When everything is against the law.

Nope, not at all...the time for the beast to be subtle has passed.

It's wide open now, acclerating, and most people still deny it.

Here's another from CATO on the subject.

Why are you so surprised that the government would want "half" the population of the country to be considered "potential terrorists", or that they'd get away with it? Next time you find yourself in a populated place, stop, take a look around, and try to assess exactly how many people would give a damn about something like this. I must warn you, don't do this too often. It's a fast track to both depression and agoraphobia.

Do you have any idea how annoying those "rights" of ours are, to the state? If they thought they could get away with ignoring your rights by calling half of us sea urchins, you could bet your bottom dollar they would.

No shit, this and plus rep.

Watching the "Compliance Shuffle" at the airports is enough to make me want to jump off a high spot, sometimes.

And our liberties are not just annoying to the state, they are annoying to the vast mobs of unwashed, the ones who shrink away or give me dirty looks when I refuse to be porno scanned or given a "chat down" and start delaying them ten seconds out of their meaningless rat race of debt and consumption.

Oh, indeed... without them, there would be no state.

A cop was driving past me the other day, then all of a sudden he hit the brakes and pulled up right behind me.

I think he saw my Ron Paul bumper sticker and thought he'd check me out. Which he did.

We were stopped at a very long light. Plenty of time to run my plates, and he "found something wrong." I didn't do anything wrong, but apparently Texas fucked up my registration information, so he kindly let me know I'd need to give them a call to sort that out.

I'm definitely weighing the pro's and con's of keeping that Ron Paul bumper sticker. That could have ended badly.

I'd wager that your RFID tag or his automated license plate scanner "pinged" him before that RP sticker did.

I actually don't think so. Dallas cops don't have plate scanners yet.

Also, my license plate is very old, and this is first time I've been pulled over. I'm fairly sure I have no RFID's, because I drive by cops all the time, and if some automated system picked up this "strange error".. I'd get pulled over several times a day.

Yah, in that case, you're probably right.

Ha! Ha. Ha.

I think they are hoping getting the drones up in time.

Perhaps the way they can get away with it is the ability to print up what ever amount of cash it takes to get their way.

FreedomFanatic,

Sorry about the Ha! Ha. Ha..

I was laughing with you, I think.

These times do make it troubling to know which color hat your suppose to where. Or just which flag to wave may come into question.

Maybe these words will help.

"Patriotism is supporting your country all the time,
and your government when it deserves it." -- Mark Twain

As for hat. Where any color you want.

I'm not surprised that they would want to, I'm surprised the people would let them. I know most people, to inconsistent degrees, want to control peoples economic and social lives to some degree, and support bad (Interventionist) foreign policy. I honestly did not think they would stand for something like this.

He's talking about the MIAC report from 2009:
