Dan wonders if politicians have to believe in the causes they're championing for the public to benefit. If the GOP cynically embraces Rand Paul's constitutional ideas to win elections, can it lead to better things?

I will listen to it later. I don't know what his political beliefs are but I'm guessing he's a statist. His history podcast is good.

So he's a civil libertarian. He criticizes democrats for sounding like Bushies. It's certainly a valid concern in regards to Republicans jumping on the bandwagon on drones when they never cared before. Some are faking it and maybe some aren't. If we are trying to convince them we have to start somewhere. Many of us supported things we are now opposed to and vice versa.

I'm gonna have to check out his other podcasts. He has an interesting way of thinking out loud.

I enjoy his commentary a great deal. He's definitely an independent thinker. He's one Austrian economics book away from being completely on board I think.
