She has a history of spreading lies and distortions:

There would be others who would take shots in coming days and weeks as appeal of Ron Paul's ideas of liberty and hope rises further. In my view campaign should promptly tackle any mudslinging and smearing but not give too much attention to them unless criticism is from a legit and respected media person.

Good point.

I was hoping there were a handful of good men still left in media. Phil Donohue was one of the last ones of that breed, he lost his show for being critical of Iraq war theories few years back when his was one of the highest rated shows on MSNBC at the time.

Not sure we should "ignore" them. Because the more we fire back, the more they get wound up to respond. Then, the more people, you would think, would get curious as to why this columnist is repeatedly attacking Paul.

Do you think the more they attack us, the more this can backfire on these writers so that voters will be encouraged to check out Dr. Paul?

I think these types of people (who practically are working for other campaigns) should be exposed, not ignored.

I agree with both of you, smear attacks are unfortunately part and parcel of current political races and should be promptly dealt with. I didn't realize benefit of curiosity that such controversies could spark until I read your views. I just felt that a discredited pundit like Mona Charen should not have needed rebuttal time from top leaders of campaign.

As for other campaigns, who knows who she is pushing these days LOL

Why Fred Thompson should run

By Mona Charen

The current Republican field is like a smorgasbord at Denny's — lots of OK choices, but nothing to get the heart racing. That's why the potential candidacy of former Sen. Fred Thompson is creating a palpable stir.
He hasn't dreamed of becoming president since he was in diapers. But he has noticed that 57 percent of Republicans tell pollsters they are unsatisfied with the current field.

It may be that no one can play a Republican president better than Fred Thompson.

She's not minor.
Her association with the Reagan Administration made her attack worthy of RP campaign's notice.

And her betrayal of his principles should make ours.
