Second time in the last few months that they've revoked my adsense portion of my account.

The first time they just linked to my home page as the example page, said it had copywritten works and were not more specific. I wrote back and asked how youtube works.

I'm not sure if I should appeal a second time.

Violation explanation

Google does not allow the monetization of content that may be sensitive, tragic, or hurtful. While we believe strongly in the freedom of expression and offer broad access to content across the Web without censoring search results, we reserve the right to exercise discretion when reviewing sites and determining whether or not we are able to provide a positive user experience delivering contextually targeted ads to a site with this type of content.
For more information, please review Google’s program policies (http://support.google.com/adsense/bin/answer.py?answer=48182&ctx=cb&src=cb&cbid=54mab9y5bg90).

Action required: Check account for compliance While ad serving has been disabled to the above site, your AdSense account remains active. Please be aware that the URL above is just an example and that the same violations may exist on other pages of this website or other sites you own. Therefore, we suggest that you take the time to review the rest of your sites to ensure that they’re in compliance with our policies, and to monitor your sites accordingly to reduce the likelihood of future policy emails from us. Additionally, please note that our team reserves the right to disable accounts at any time if we continue to see violations occurring.

Hmmm.... maybe AdSense shouldn't run in the hot topic / off topic sections, and you could more tightly moderate everywhere else to prevent that sort of thing? I'd hate for you to lose your ad revenue :-(

Then ask them about the "China Jon" Youtube video's violating their: "Sensitive, Tragic, & Hurtful..." The corporate media(airwaves/print), attorneys, AND blogosphere made millions covering the China Jon video, not only to the children involved, but also presidential candidates.

What did Google do about Adsense on that vid... Nah Dah.

Does anyone have a copy of this Image without the Ribbon on the bottom? Just a circular image?

Clearly what Google does is exercise discretion over WHO can monetize ICKY STUFF online, nevertheless this is surely the offense alluded to in the suspension, dontcha think?

tineye found that exact same image on 136 other sites:

pedobear is in the public domain, so I suspect this is because TSA bitched. Either that, or it's just plain censorship.

Damn. That sucks. Maybe because there have been articles critical of google?

I don't really know much about advertising but perhaps you could use a different service? Or does google have a monopoly on this sort of thing?

ETA: I missed Sevin's post. That would be what I would suggest too.

ETA: And I missed the pedobear reference in the complaint. That has got to be the dumbest thing I've seen in a while.

They aren't the only ones.

THEY are winning. THEY are commanding HIM, not the other way around.

THEY are crazy like foxes.

It is a TYPE of offense/offensiveness, like disrespecting/satirizing Government is somehow WORSE than disrespecting/satirizing Laymen.

Like cop-killing is somehow worse than layman-killing.

Here is what I would do.

Send them this link and tell them if they want YOUR business then they better tell you PRECISELY what content infringed on their policy otherwise this business relationship is becoming far too strenuous for you to continue.

A link to the front page of a public political forum is a retarded way to tell a webmaster what content infringed on their policies.

They consider pedo bear dressed up as a TSA agent 'hurtful'.

Fact is pedo bear is a public domain internet meme and TSA agents are groping kids so a user made a political point.

If Google are now canning Adsense users due to political speech then that is a huge story and we must spread it throughout the internet.

Indeed, if this is their specific complaint (as it does seem to be) then they're objecting to First Amendment-protected speech. Now, some lawyer might say the Constitution isn't clear on the application of the First to ad revenues being withheld. Might be interesting to find out...

Then again, the 'monetization of content' language they use might mean that merely expunging a few posts that contain both this image and a reference to projects (like the very aravoth post that cheapseats found) might bring the site into compliance.

In the olden days people would appreciate the word of mouth. I today's age of reason perhaps you have to do the opposite.

Then again it sounds like they know some of the YouTube stuff has some sort of copy protection and don't like seeing it posted.

Geez - this forum is basically archiving the collapse of this country as it falls - every thread is tragic!

Looks like you're in a tough spot, the thread they mentioned is 2 years old; I'm sure we've been much more offensive since then - to scour the site for content would take a year and would just be censorship. This just su*ks.

The "offending" post was in General Politics and it was far less offensive than 90% of the crap on the Internet. So MSBNC can call Ron and Rand Paul racist, but someone pokes fun at the TSA for their groping policies that 90% of Americans hate and somehow this is about Ron Paul supporter being "offensive"? I know that's not what you mean, but that's how its coming across. And yes, Google is "private property" and all, but what they are doing is wrong and frankly they can go to hell. They've gotten too big for their britches. They need more competition. What are the best paying alternatives to Google Adsense?
