New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg is set to launch a $12 million ad campaign targeting senators on gun control, according to a New York Times report Saturday.
The ads will run in 12 states during the Easter and Passover recess, including Ohio, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Arizona, Louisiana, Arkansas, Nevada, Georgia and Indiana, and target vulnerable Democrats, swing-state senators and solidly supported Republicans, according to the report.

I think the ads will have the opposite effect here in Arizona

Bloomberg is going to try to influence the elections in Arkansas and Louisiana? So, in order to unseat Congressman Joe Blow here in the Southwest, he's going to make commercials where he says, 'Hello, I'm New York City mayor Bloomberg, and I endorse Congressman Joe Blow and urge you to reelect him'? Because if they point a camera at him and he says anything else, he's just ensuring their reelection.

I wonder who is funding the ads. Didn't find it skimming the link. If its Tax payer money, well i can't believe that would be legal.

We have 'top two' general elections in CA (which I hate) which means we have two Democrats in the running for Mayor. Both suck. But the determining factor in my voting for Suck #2 instead of Suck #1 is that Bloomberg is running ads for Suck # 1.....

Why vote?

(Meaning, "In this election for mayor" not "Ever.")

I'm sure there will be an opportunity to raise our taxes, there always is. But Bloomberg is reason enough for me to have an opinion on this one. There are races I may not vote in, though.

Am I missing something? Some of those senators aren't up for re-election until 2016. Why run attack ads now?
