My 8 year old step son just told me that he's "wanted a foam finger all his life". :)

I want to give him a Ron Paul foam finger. 1. Do they exist? 2. Can you direct me to one?

Then he and I won't discuss politics. But I doubt that happens. We're teaching him to own his life, and to respect the lives of others. At some point he'll rebel. But the foundation will be there.

The idea of a foam finger to an 8 year old is a lot more exciting than the real thing, imo... that said a Ron Paul foam finger sounds like it could have some real utility.

Just please, don't make a Santorum foam finger, that sounds horrible.

I was raised conservative... I didn't stick with it, although the positions I grew up around have had a little bit of affect on me on a few issues. But for the most part, I rejected the philosophy I was raised with. Then again, the philosophy I was raised with was inferior to libertarianism...

As I said, the foundation will be there. When a kid rebels, you almost by definition have to let him rebel, and trust that you raised him right. Fighting him will only entrench the rebellion.

Statistically I'm probably in rebellion... But I can't go back to conservatism.... I don't think I ever can... The only direction for me to travel is more radical, not less.

If its any consolation, at least it wasn't Mccain 2008. Granted, we later learned it wasn't much of a difference, but from what we knew in 2008 Obama was a significantly lesser great evil. (Yes I said "Lesser great" he was still pretty bad, but at the time he was way better than Mccain on war issues, which are fundamentally the most important.)

Yeah, I agree. I suspect Mccain would have been worse, but it doesn't matter. They all, quite frankly, deserve to suffer and DIE. How anyone still gives them the slightest bit of respect amazes me, Romans 13 thread aside.
