View Full Version : RNC to spend $10 million to reach minorities

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The head of the Republican National Committee says the party will spend $10 million this year to send hundreds of paid staffers into communities to talk with Hispanic, black and Asian voters.

RNC chairman Reince Priebus on Sunday said the party would send employees from coast to coast to build the party's credibility in racial and ethnic communities that supported President Barack Obama over GOP nominee Mitt Romney last year. Priebus says the party cannot "parachute" into communities in the months before an election and expect to have clout.

Priebus is scheduled to outline his plan for the party on Monday. Priebus tells CBS' "Face the Nation" that part of that plan will be a nominating convention in June or July instead of August and fewer debates during the primaries.

Give me the ten mill, I'll reach a whole bunch of minorities. :)

Instead of working to pander to Hispanics with hopes of buying their votes, the GOP should simply offer freedom from government oppression. That is the best chance to get minority votes IMO.

Waste of money most likely. Should at least wait until they all have to pay the fine for not having Federally approved health plans ......

Stop sending these people money. They're clueless.

If they dropped all of this money over Detroit, and it was known the RNC dropped it, they might get some more votes

Yes, or they could even be less strident and just simply push for the full decriminalization of marijuana. But I don't see them doing that.

They need to instead spend that money shoring up their own base

Not enacting more voter suppression laws would be a good asset as well.

You mean having to prove citizenship to vote? Oh how evil that they ask you for less ID than you need than for opening a bank account or boarding an airplane.

I'm sorry I don't mind admitting I support voter ID laws. This isn't REAL ID or biometric SS cards we're dealing with. Some precinct worker in Cincinnati got busted for voting 6 times and her response was "I will fight for the right of Barack Obama to be president."

The thing is that Voter ID will DESENSITIZE people to the point where they will accept Real ID.

Just look at the mess that happened in Florida in November due to the strict voter ID laws, the (deliberate, I'm sure) purging of registered voters from the rolls, and the cutting off of early voting. The results weren't announced for days.

Check out the Economics sub-forum. They're working hard to get conservatives to accept a European style VAT ('FAIR tax').

I have to agree.

I'd say 8 out of 10 people should not allowed within 1000 yards of voting booth.

Anything that keeps that number down is better.

"Conservatives" wanting a different flavor of big government and its spending?

Imagine my shock.
