Ron Paul Blimp artwork contest! Winner gets a blimp ride!

We will be awarding promagma and tarzan a blimp ride for their efforts. Both images are being spread around the internet on various news stories.
This is the chosen one.

This is not the final artwork for the blimp but a nice webpage cover!! This concept may be used in the final image. It is undecided as of this moment.

We need a epic visual of a Ron Paul Blimp flying over the Boston Harbor to simulate the Boston Tea Party.

Be creative. His face on the front of the blimp may be a good idea. The blimp will only be ready in time if we use banners. They are 30 x 90 feet and there is one on each side. This may not necessarily be the final design for the blimp but this will be used for promotion of the blimp to the public.

Preferably use the Skyship 600 as a model.

Be creative. There will be a open poll vote in the Ron Paul Forums to determine the winner.

I'm not talented with graphics, but I suggest a real simple slogan such as "RON PAUL for President" with the writing very large in some combination of red, white and blue.

IMO "2008" or "'08" isn't needed. If you can leave it out to make the rest of the writing larger, I'd go with that.

I don't think Ron's face should be on except maybe on the rear over the stabilizers for close up shoots on he ground. We need the letters to be as big as possible. There is not artwork one can add that won't take away from the letter size and maximum contrast will be needed for reading at long distances. Heres a simple but very readable start.:p

The text must readable from 1000 feet in the air. That is very high up. We can also include on the ground marketing as the blimp flies over head. I think we have enough volunteers who can follow the blimp and do events in the street below.

If It's white already all we have to have is the letters Ron Paul President painted or large stencils type letters. Hopefully in the 1st month it will be self generating in small donations by lots of people and we can keep it till Ron is president.

I think La Mancha has the right idea. It is too tempting to get carried away with adding unnecessary characters and/or decorations. I think (unfortunately) the way to go is to keep it simple and BIG. As big as possible so that people can easily read it with one quick glance out of their side window of their car as they are driving. All the extras look fantastic for a screensaver picture or something but will only go unnoticed by the naked eye in a real world situation. We need to go for basic communication. I think we need just 3 words: "Ron Paul President". So I guess what I am saying is that the judges of this art contest should give more weight to function over form. And unfortunately the 2 are often at conflict with each other.

But we should have little rEVOLution logos, slogans, etc. that could only be seen by binoculars or a video camera zooming in on the tail fins or wherever.

I'm not an artist, but I'd like to suggest "Let Freedom Fly" as a slogan, and the blimp christened as Freedom. This will play in well with more marketing.

A blimp is money well spent, if you leverage it with a great schedule. For example,

Sunday 12/16 - NFL football game, with "overhead cameras provided by .... " announcement
Monday 12/17 - NFL Monday night football game, with "overhead cameras provided by .... " announcement
Tuesday 12/18 - Meetup group organized rally (should draw 3x the normal turnout, news coverage)
Wednesday 12/19 - Stop at some campus, student rally

Etc. etc.... something everyday

No not at all. We will be using decals instead of banners now and we have a pretty flexible space.

One thing I think would be good to keep in mind is that for people on the ground to read it easily, the top line of writing shouldn't be higher than the center of the blimp.

The Ron Paul Blimp donation page needs to be fixed so that more people will donate! Please update the web page for donations to say that “all donations beyond the first month operations will be applied to an extra month flying the Ron Paul Blimp!”

We need to keep it UP in the AIR spreading the Ron Paul revolution message to the people.

To keep this project going while things are worked out in collecting the funds, we will need to update the web page and keep the blimp donations coming in for month two! We’re LOOSING donations right now for month two!

And spend some extra money on the artwork please! Once the artwork is on the blimp, we can’t change it! So it better be good the first time around!

Remember that you have thousands of RP supporters walking around

with "R3VOLUTION" t-shirts! This is a great Ad slogan and the blimp will build on that!

Also the YouTube campaign video shown on CNN during the last debate ended with

"The Ron Paul REVOLUTION."

Please use this "leverage" of the Ad slogan "REVOLUTION" on THE BLIMP!

The "REVOLUTION" logo would get the support of all the people that bought the t-shirts and would also

Just an aside to this. Google is not big on people using google as a verb. I'm not sure why but they have tried to discourage it. Cats out of the bag I think.

"google" has pretty much become a common verb in everyday English. I think the size of the lettering is fine, but hard to tell without a full-sized blimp to look at.

Come on, only on the internets. I think the blimp will have a greater impact on people who don't use internet or rarely watch TV as they are more likely to be outside looking up to the sky.
Not everybody is connected you know.
