UPDATE - CaseyJones says Rand's Chief of Staff has confirmed the site as legitimate, so I don't know why it is different from the others but that was the main issue. I will delete this but I want it to stay up for a while to clear up the problem for anyone who saw it before.

Prior post:

It is possible the site sending stuff to C4L people is legitimate but there is no mention of it on the C4L page, and I've seen no press releases that this is an official pac for Rand.

https://secure.randpac.com/ is the RandPac donation link.

Another site, rand-2016(dot)com 'directs' to Rand Pac but it is its own page, and has a 'moneybomb' going on.

It says 'paid for by Rand Paul for Senate' but the official Rand Paul site was bought by a member here some time ago for Rand and is here: http://www.randpaul2016.com/

Until we find out exactly who is behind the rand-2016(dot)com, I would recommend donating to Rand Pac or to Rand's Senate campaign site at: https://secure.randpaul2016.com/

With regard to the rand-2016(dot)com(the whois just gives the name of a political consultancy firm which could mean this is a neocon astroturf group by Rove or the Tea Party Nation guy, or a legitimate group, I have no idea.)

We have had scams on money bombs before and it pays to be careful. Contrarily, if someone has legitimate info about these people, please let us know.

This is the same site Cowesly posted for donations during Rand's filibuster. I donated $50 to it. I'm going to be pissed if this wasn't Rand's Pac. http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?406484-RAND-PAC-2013-show-some-support-for-his-filibuster-efforts&p=4909104#post4909104

I also noted that I didn't recieve a reciept via email when I donated nor even a thank you for your donation response page after I donated.

Saber is a legitimate company, but works for many many groups. This isn't from YAL I don't think, because I am on their mailing list and I didn't get it. It says it got the mailing list from C4L but C4L has nothing about EITHER the money bomb or the combined petition on the website.

If it is legitimate, great, but I'd like to know that. Many hire Saber, not just our people. If it is Tea Party Nation (whose head is not exactly a liberty gyy) it is still potentially 'legitimate', but people might view how they would spend the money differently than if it were by a YAL inspired group. How will the money be spent? Who is running it?

We usually have all that information before people start asking for money in legitimate ways.

I got two emails from them today. I didn't donate to them, and I'm not even sure if their letter from Ron is even real.

Last week, Rand Paul stood for 13 hours filibustering Senate business to defend our Constitution.

Because of Rand's principled stand, Barack Obama hedged and finally gave Rand the answer he and other freedom lovers were asking for in writing.

____, Rand is currently holding a Stand With Rand Money Bomb to rally millions of Americans to help defend the Constitution.

I'm proud of my son's principled stand, so I'm personally asking you to sign your Defend the Constitution Petition and make a generous contribution to the Stand With Rand Money Bomb.

The Money Bomb ends tomorrow at midnight.

So please sign your Defend the Constitution Petition today.

In Liberty,
http://www.chooseliberty.org/images/RP-Signature.gif
Ron Paul

P.S. Although Rand Paul's filibuster is over, the battle to restore Constitutional government rages on.

If you haven't yet done so, please sign your Defend the Constitution Petition right away.

And if you've already signed your petition, I hope you'll make a donation to help Rand Paul continue to defend Constitutional government in Washington.

That looks like a Ron Paul email, but note the 'paid for by' there is the CORRECT site RandPaul2016.com not rand-2016(dot)com and RandPaul2016.com doesn't mention this money bomb either: http://www.randpaul2016.com/

Could you please post the links where it says 'sign the petition' etc?

It might be legitimate, but I can't find who is behind it.

The last C4L email I got from Ron was on February 6 about gun rights. But sometimes I got his stuff later in the day than anyone else, during the campaign, I decided California just got stuff late.

The C4L stuff I got all went to a 'choose liberty' link site though: http://www.chooseliberty.org/libertydirective.aspx?pid=re1

and their donation page is here: https://secure.campaignforliberty.org/

I have been looking a bit more...
I could not find "RandPAC" on the OpenSecrets.org website, apparently the official name is: "Reinventing a New Direction".

Saber is mentioned here as the top recipient:
1 Saber Communications $143,938

I cannot find anymore information on this, but it does not sound logical to me for a firm that actually works for RandPAC to do unauthorized, fraudulent money-bombs. Then again, stranger things have happened so don't take my word for it but wait until someone involved comments.

Thanks. paracom is one I've gotten stuff from before from C4L. It is possible, and Sabre is too. We just usually KNOW what the official sites are. And if Rand Paul for Senate is paying for this, as it says at the bottom, why is this a different donation page than the RandPaul2016 one, and why isn't it mentioned there? The idea that it is paid for by the OFFICIAL RAnd Paul for Senate account kinda makes it seem like it couldn't be an unaffiliated PAC on behalf of him, so why a different donation site?

I just want to get this cleared up. It is everyone's own money, but I'd donate it directly to one of the places we know for sure are his, personally.

I'm not sure why Rand is trying to fill the coffers with this, even got Ron sending emails for him.

My advice is to keep your powder dry. Rand's PAC is in a healthy position so he doesn't need the money really and its far too early to think about 2016.

There are things we need to do for 2014 first.

We never heard of the website the money is going to. Before people raise money here we want to make sure it isn't a scam. We know the usual C4L and RandPac and RandPaul2016 sites, but hadn't been familiar with this one. People ran all sorts of scams trying to capture Ron's donations, and we wanted donations to go where they are supposed to go. but it has been confirmed as 'legit', I am still not sure if it is Rand's himself or a PACs, but if it is legit then it is.

Do you know more about this site? It is the Rand-2016(dot)com one.

Spam and scam filters tend to prohibit multiple penetrations of URLs like that. So when you do a new fundraising campaign, you tend to want a fresh URL for it that hasn't already been flagged by spam filters.
