Late last week Senate President Mike Miller and the Democrats hobbled Martin O'Malleys gun criminalization bill through the Maryland Senate.

It was a revealing vote for several senators.

Senator Jim Brochin, a Baltimore County Democrat that stabbed gun owners in the back and changed his position to support O'Malley's gun criminalization bill, is already reporting that this vote could mean the end of his political career.

Democrat senators Thomas "Mac" Middleton and Edward Degrange also flipped their stance and supported the bill.

These senators are ultimately responsible for the advancement of the bill.

With the two votes of these senators, a filibuster could have been maintained. Unfortunately, they voted to end debate and move the bill forward.

These two senators got away with being on both sides of this issue - they voted for the bill in the cloture vote and against it in the full floor vote.

They will now go back to their constituents and say they voted to protect the 2nd amendment.

When politicians can get away with being on both sides of this issue it shows that we haven't done enough to engage gun rights supporters.

It is estimated that there are over 2,100,000 gun owners in the state of Maryland. Attendees of the recent rallies in Annapolis report that 2,000 to 3,000 gun leaders were in attendance - about 1% of the gun owners in Maryland.

While these numbers obviously don't reflect the total number of gun rights supporters that are engaged in this fight, they paint a telling picture...

If only 1% of gun owners in Maryland are rallying against the worst gun criminalization bill in Maryland history, we must do more to engage other Maryland gun rights supporters in our state.

The fact of the matter is that the procedural votes for this bill are barely squeaking by. This is a sure sign that the bill pushers in Annapolis are surely feeling the pressure that gun owners are putting on elected officials.

We have the numbers to stop this bill. However, because so many Marylanders are unaware of what is happening in Annapolis, their elected officials are able to be on both sides of this issue.

This is why we need your help engaging every gun rights supporter in Maryland.

Call to Arms!

Most people hate politics and go out of their way to avoid the nonsense in Annapolis or Washington DC - even when it concerns something they dearly care about.

It is painful even for activists like myself.

It is a sad truth that the cost of indifference to public affairs is to be ruled by evil men.

Very smart men once noted that the price of liberty is eternal vigilance - we need nothing less from you and other gun rights supporting Marylanders.

We all know people that support gun rights but may have never stood to have their voices heard. We need help from those people and we need it right now.

Can you help us reach out to gun rights supporters you know and ask that they stand against gun criminalization in Maryland?

Call to Arms!

We need a force big enough to stand up against the power brokers in Annapolis and we need every bit of help we can get in this call to arms.

You can help by:

-Forwarding this email to friends
-Posting the link to our petition on local forums or blogs
-Sharing the link to our petition via Facebook or Twitter
-Printing out the URL of the petition and posting it where other gun rights supporters will see it

Time is of the essence.

The numbers in this fight are on our side - but we need to make sure every gun rights supporter is engaged.

Having your voice heard is empowering. Your friends and family will thank you for engaging them on an issue important to them.

Can you help us by engaging gun rights supporters that you know in this fight?

P.S. - We don't have to controlled by politicians that grab our rights by playing on both sides of an issue.

It would be nice if you'd get to the point and explain what this bill means.

The overwhelming majority of the Maryland electorate are hypocrites...they sure don't want politicians grabbing their gun rights...but when election time comes they flip-flop by supporting two certified gun grabbers like Romney and Obama.

I recall the state went blue last November....Marylanders should get the gun grabbing they voted for.
