I'm surprised they even let him have a Pop-Tart on schools grounds.

Pop-Tart Pistol?: 7-Year-Old Gets Suspended for Gun-Shaped Pastry
http://reason.com/blog/2013/03/01/pop-tart-pistol-7-year-old-gets-suspende

A Maryland kid chewed his breakfast pastry into the shape of a gun at school and wound up with two days supension. The pastry in question was not named, but it's gotta be a Pop-Tart, right?

The Fox Baltimore affiliate is teasing the story on Facebook.

7-Year-Old Joshua was suspended this morning from Park Elementary School in Brooklyn Park. Joshua says he was eating a pastry during snack time and trying to shape it into a mountain, the teacher said it looked like a gun and took him to the principal's office. Joshua's parents were called, he has been suspended for two days. Joshua's father says it's ridiculous since no one was threatened or harmed by the pastry. A letter will be going home to all students of Park Elementary School this afternoon. School officials declined to comment due to privacy issues.

Thanks!

When his teacher saw the strawberry tart he knew he was in trouble, he recalls, "She was pretty mad…and I think I was in big trouble."
[...]
But Josh's dad is not happy saying, "I would almost call it insanity. I mean with all the potential issues that could be dealt with at school, real threats, bullies, whatever the real issue is, it's a pastry.., Ya know?" Josh just wishes he could go back to class, but maintains a good sense of humor through the whole debacle saying, "I didn't get to eat all my breakfast, so, really I am still hungry."

He seemed kind of bummed in the video.

He seemed kind of bummed in the video.

I don't blame him. He's a little young to discover that the only way he'll be allowed to become an educator when he grows up is if he loses his everlovin' mind in the meantime...

My favorite comment:

Seven years old and the kid can't even chew his Pop-Tart into the shape of a mountain? What a dumbass. When I was that age I was already shaping my mashed potatoes in the very mountain where I would later to be abducted by aliens.

Lucky his mom didn't cut the crust off a PBJ sandwich. He may have been arrested for having a 'high capacity' mag.

BALTIMORE - A 7-year-old Maryland boy has been suspended from school after biting his breakfast pastry into a shape that his teacher thought looked like a gun.
Josh Welch, a second-grader at Park Elementary School in Baltimore, said he was trying to nibble his strawberry Pop Tart into a mountain.
"It was already a rectangle and I just kept on biting it and biting it and tore off the top and it kinda looked like a gun but it wasn't," Josh said. "All I was trying to do was turn it into a mountain but it didn't look like a mountain really and it turned out to be a gun kinda."
But when his teacher saw what he had done, the boy says she got "pretty mad" and he knew he was "in big trouble."
Josh's dad was called by the school and informed that his son had been suspended for two days.
"I asked if was any one was hurt, they said 'No'," B.J. Welch said. "I would almost call it insanity. I mean with all the potential issues that could be dealt with at school -- real threats, bullies, whatever the issue is. It's a pastry."
The school sent home a letter with every student informing parents that: "A student used food to make an inappropriate gesture."
Josh, who suffers from attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and enjoys art classes, said that his actions were innocent, according to a report in the Daily Mail .

Nothing...nothing at all is "wrong" with the school, it performed its work precisely.

This kid learned a valuable lesson:

The are a million rules and the hammer may fall at any minute.

You are to remain at all times, docile and compliant.

Or else.

Of course those assault pastries are really deadly. The kids probably have one of those drum mags:

I take pride in hanging myself with my own words.

Dear Parents and Guardians:

I am writing to let you know about an incident that occurred this morning in one of our classrooms and encourage you to discuss this matter with your child in a manner you deem most appropriate.
During breakfast this morning, one of our students used food to make inappropriate gestures that disrupted the class. While no physical threats were made and no one [was] harmed, the student had to be removed from the classroom.

* * * As you are aware, the ... Code of Student Conduct and appropriate consequences related to violations of the code are clearly spelled out in the Student Handbook, which was sent home during the first week of school and can be found on our website, www.aacps.org....
If your children express that they are troubled by today's incident, please talk with them and help them share their feelings.

Our school counselor is available to meet with any students who have the need to do so next week.

In general, please remind them of the importance of making good choices.

according to twitter, the school is now 'offering counseling' to kids terrorized by the pop tart.

And if kids go, to get out of class, they will call it a 'success'....

Well, if I was a kid at that school, I would probably be afraid to eat Pop Tarts too. If those idiots can mistake one for a pistol, something is wrong.

The level of stupid that these administrators have reached has to be a new low.

They make the guy in the AT&T commercials with the kids in pre-school look like a friggin' Rhodes Scholar.

You really have to wonder how these morons remember how to take a breath to keep living. Walking and chewing gum at the same time must be impossible.

I'd rep you if I could!

To be fair, the phrasing leaves open the possibility that the students would be "troubled" not by the imaginary gun but by the suspension, and by the ensuing realization that they're powerless pawns in a vast, incomprehensible game run by madmen (http://reason.com/blog/2013/03/05/school-offers-counseling-to-kids-trouble).

Yeah, but we can't aim at anything but New Mexico. Of course, we have that one lined up for a head shot...

Besides, we look less like a gun and more like a tank. And that's not scary at all, right? I mean, it may be orders of magnitude more deadly, but no one except the good guys have tanks, right?

That said, I think I'd rather be New Mexico than Texas. Getting shot at by a tank is bad, but getting run over by one is worse.
