Chuck Schumer was questioning Bernanke this morning about debt. He said one of his colleagues told him a good analogy, so he asked Bernanke, "if a frog jumps into boiling water, he gets singed pretty badly, is that the situation we are in?" Bernanke was confused. ;)

I can understand his confusion - the operating model is that the central bank places the frog in a pot of tepid water, and very, very slowly turns the temperature up until the frog is being boiled.
