Just saw this. This looks pretty serious. Declares state of emergency and allows warrantless searches with prison for non-compliance. Links are in description of video.

Well, I know the video was stupid and the noise was hideous. But it was the first time I had seen mention of the info IN the video. Guess I should have just posted the links. Oh well...... live and learn.

Both my Rep. and Senator are sponsors. :(

I don't think this will go anywhere though. It was the deadline to file bills and they threw this in there. It would still have to go through committee and everything.

They actually just days ago dropped an attempt at a ban on the sale of "high capacity magazines" and "assault rifles" because of a lack of support.

Sen. Ginny Burdick, D-Portland, said Wednesday that she is backing off an attempt to push through a bill on gun clips that she drafted following the December shootings at the Clackamas Mall.

Senate Judiciary Chairman Floyd Prozanski, D-Eugene, who is another key figure in the gun-control debate, said he doesn't plan to take up Burdick's legislation or another bill in the House that would bar the sale of semi-automatic military-style rifles often known as assault weapons.

"I personally think that the high-capacity magazines and semi-automatic weapon issues need to be done at the federal level," said Prozanski.

Now they're working on banning guns at the Capitol because of all the scary gun rights activists:

However, Burdick and Prozanski said they are adding another item to their gun-control agenda: a bill that would largely prohibit people from bringing guns into the Capitol.

Prozanski said concern grew about guns in the Capitol during a recent gun-rights rally across the street from the building. Several participants wore semi-automatic rifles slung across their back and some of them came inside the Capitol with their weapons.

Under current Oregon law, they are allowed to do that if they possess a concealed handgun license.

Prozanski said some groups canceled visits to the Capitol because they didn't want to be there at the same time as the gun-rights activists.

That's almost negative rep worthy.

There was a town hall meeting last Saturday with my State Rep. Jeff Reardon and Senator Rod Monroe, both sponsors of HB3200.

You can see at 3:30 of this video a man brings up this bill saying:

- It allows warrantless searches of homes.
- It's similar to Clinton's gun ban which reduced zero crime.
- "Assault weapons" represent less than 0.03% of all gun violence.
- You don't ban alcohol because one person gets drunk and runs down 20 people.
- It's an overreaction and completely unconstitutional.

Instead of addressing his concerns, they decide that it's time to move on to other issues.

Later another man brings up the bill and says that "the 2nd Amendment was not for hunting or home protection, it was for an overreaching government and keeps the relationship between government and the people in check".

And finally the guy with the camera speaks to my Representative, Jeff Reardon, who says that although he was a sponsor he hadn't actually read the bill and was just that day finding out what was in it. The gun question starts at 1:50.

So what are Oregon's citizens gonna do about it? Can't wait to see the youtube video's of the warrant-less raids, I'm nearly convinced that's all we'll see at this point--cameras in the hands of their neighbors, instead of what should be in their hands if this bill passes.

Same as the bill that was put forth in Washington. Who is giving them these bills to submit if they do not even read the bill they sponsor?

That should be immediate grounds for dismissal when they do not even know or understand what is in the bill they are voting on.

I find this line typically ironic...

"Prozanski said some groups canceled visits to the Capitol because they didn't want to be there at the same time as the gun-rights activists."

This from the people who love to call you racist. One can imagine them deciding not to go, "We'd planned to visit the capital today but those damn Jews N*ggers Gun Rights people are going to be all over the place." "Yeah, those people are dangerous. Somebody ought to round them up and send them back where they came from."

Yet if another group refused to visit the capitol because the gay rights activist were there, or Code Pink, or NARAL - they'd be soundly condemned for being intolerant haters.

Blue State Fascist Hypocrites...
