This is the closest one to me in Southern California, I think I'm going to be able to head down there this Saturday!

Ventura, California on Saturday, February 23rd, 2013
.
Californians will gather at the steps of City Hall in Ventura and commence a March at 11:30 a.m. down California Street and Main Street towards Mission Park, across the street from the San Buenaventura Mission, where we will assemble for a Public Meeting at NOON to Rally and Protest the efforts of the California State Legislature to impose a de facto repeal of the 2nd Amendment. Speakers will inform the activists attending the Rally on what they can do individually and collectively to combat these proposals and what we can do if the ban goes into effect. The organizers of the Ventura Day of Resistance will provide the people attending with the tools and organization they need in order to effect real change.

March starts at Ventura City Hall, 501 Pali Street.
-
Activist speakers will headline, including:

Stewart Rhodes, Founder of Oathkeepers, activist, Yale Law School grad, former paratrooper
Peter Foy, Ventura County CA Supervisor, political activist
Nick Hankoff, Tenth Amendment Center Grassroots Coordinator
Brian Reilly, AZ Political Activist, Bd. Member Waking Up America
…. More TBA.

As mentioned in the earlier press release, People Protecting Freedom, a non-partisan Ventura-based grassroots organization, is sponsoring this local event as part of a coordinated national effort of DayofResistance.com. Day of Resistance – Ventura County is organized by regular people in Ventura, Santa Barbara, Los Angeles, Orange and San Bernadino Counties, who are concerned about the loss of a fundamental civil liberty. It is an element of a larger effort to highlight the purpose and significance of the Second Amendment as the foundation of our other freedoms, stop further unconstitutional legislation and point out better methods of improving safety.

Just got back from the Dallas event. Had 30 to 50 of us hard core carrying rifles. Not sure on exact number, as at least two of them were airsoft AR replicas, which I put in the ghey category. If you're going to carry a rifle, carry a rifle.

State Rep. David Simpson (TSA Anti-groping bill) was one of the speakers - he was fantastic.

Seriously though. That's commendable that people still have courage enough to show up and set such an example. These are usually the most sincere and sensible folks regarding the movement. Too many cowboys out there talking tough on discussion boards. This is the main reason I stopped reading infowars stuff. I've always thought that those folks who go looking to just start trouble aren't nearly as formidable as those who are ready for it. So...good form in demonstrating that.

I'd say the crowd was easily over 1000, but I was in the middle of it and not really at a good vantage point to make an estimate.

The rifle toters were met by some of the event staff, and we were asked to verify the rifle was unloaded (had chamber flag in mine), and no magazines. Also informed that if the police got any complaints, I could get arrested for disorderly conduct:rolleyes: - and told them that I could risk having a liberal pee him/her self.

As two of the scheduled speakers were lawyers ....

Heres a recent headline of the Dallas event that Pericles attended. Interesting editorializing.

Arlington voice article has a slide show with several pictures of the event.

Regardless of how many were there though, you were. You should get a +rep from everyone, I would expect.

There were enough US flags, Texas flags, Gadsden flags, and a Come and Take It flag to keep liberals away, so I wasn't worried - its just Kabuki Theater.
