I remember watching a TED video on these flying micro-robots. Of course the TED video did not mention anything about military use, but I saw it coming.

And I bet destroying one of these as they flew towards your neck would be a Federal Crime.

If it is as light as a bug, how does it carry and fire even a small caliber "gun"?

Edit: answered my own question by watching the video. No gun or firing of projectiles. It would use poison or a small charge to just blow up.

These are a moot point after an emp. Even a small one.

Time to unearth the faraday cage schematics.

If these things get cheap enough, I can see a whole new sport at the sporting clays fields.

I can see a new mini-emp type device with weaver/picatinny mount system comming in the future. Upgraded versions available with flash light and/or laser targeting.

Some of the newer batteries contain quite reactive materials, so if something was mixed with them forming a binary explosive...

Uh huh .... Stiff breeze blows them into a wall ........ Cold weather depletes the battery.... Nets guard doorway so the little bastards can't make it through ....

Electric netting - done.

Strong radio interference frequencies sent out in a radius around area to override controlling signal .... Lots of ways to defeat this and I can see a lot of problems with the technology being reliable.

Now where is my fly swatter ?

BTW I will have my own attack dragonflies.
