Dangerous Cybersecurity Legislation Threatens Online Privacy

The Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act (CISPA) is back.

Last year, Representatives Rogers and Ruppersberger introduced CISPA, which would create a gaping new exemption to existing privacy law. CISPA would grant companies more power to obtain “threat” information (such as from private communications of users) and to disclose that data to the government without a warrant -- including sending data to the National Security Agency.

This week, CISPA was reintroduced in the House of Representatives. EFF is joining groups like ACLU and Fight for the Future in combating this legislation.

Last year, tens of thousands of concerned individuals used the EFF action center to speak out against overbroad and ineffective cybersecurity proposals. Together, we substantially changed the debate around cybersecurity in the U.S., moving forward a range of privacy-protective amendments and ultimately helping to defeat the Senate bill.

Now we need your help again. Can you send a message to your Representatives asking them to oppose this bill?

These assholes will never quit. That means we can not afford to quit either.

I am not sure about the 2 mentioned that are re-introducing the bill but OH needs help.

They Echo from Ohio.... Every Republican voted yes. And there were only 5 Democrats which I know 3 for sure voted no and I am almost 100% positive the other 2 democrats voted no too... Since then Ohio we've lost 2 of those no votes, so there will add 2 more yes votes. There are no good groups here at all. Everyone is so fixated on the team game. I've been told at local meetings that even if I don't like a legislation someone purposes I still have to vote for them and support them because there a Republican.

Im gonna quote AF's John Adams quote on this:

“It is more important that innocence be protected than it is that guilt be punished, for guilt and crimes are so frequent in this world that they cannot all be punished.

But if innocence itself is brought to the bar and condemned, perhaps to die, then the citizen will say, ‘whether I do good or whether I do evil is immaterial, for innocence itself is no protection,’ and if such an idea as that were to take hold in the mind of the citizen that would be the end of security whatsoever.”

-John Adams

Then I'll play Devil's Advocate:

If you have nothing to hide, why should you care if they know everything about you?

Here's why. Innocense HAS become Immaterial in the "Land of the Free" as everything has become illegal. If they know everything about you, they WILL find something, and that something will probably suprise even you. What you may not expect is that something most likely wont be just a single item or a couple of things, but a fucking mountain of violations for which you will be held accountable for.
