SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (AP) -- Fugitive ex-cop Christopher Dorner hid in a mountain condominium as a door-to-door manhunt took place outside and, after he finally made his break, apparently killed himself with a gunshot wound to the head amid a fierce gunbattle with police.

I guess he wasn't as highly trained and capable as he claimed in his manifesto. Killed a couple randoms then got caught and offed himself. Just another dime a dozen killer.

this is basically what I figured happened based on his writings in his manifesto, as he despised police to give them power over his life.

In b4 faked forensic reports

I'd probably shoot myself too if they set the place ablaze and barred the door shut.

Or the manifesto was fake

I remember watching the fires in the twin towers and the jumpers. I thought at that time that given the choice I would probably see if I could be the first human to fly with nothing more than self determination.

Wow, four shots to the back of the head!

Fortunately, none of those chipped any teeth, so he could be IDed via dental records.

I don't think the charred corpse was Dorner.

CNN special right now on Dorner. Won't even address the initial complaint controversy. They just said he was fired for making false statements. Then they straight-up excused the LAPD for shooting the wrong trucks/people by stating the LAPD was under a lot of stress. WHAT A JOKE!

We're not even to the mountains yet in the special... Can't wait to see how they "cover" the rest of this.

Once he knew he was in checkmate, he tipped over his king. I bet he was long gone when they were shooting those 1000s of rounds toward the cabin.

Those Californians really know how to make a movie.... With the advances in television production and disinformation, anything can be told and it can be believable.

Maybe a bullet exploded in the heat.Doesn't excuse premeditated murder of an innocent man without due process.

And maybe he shot himself after being forced back inside a burning building,, rather than being burned alive.

There was no intention of ever letting that man inside a courtroom.

Dorners only "choice" was a) burn alive, b) die from being shot by the numerous agents on site that would have liked to get a combat qual or c) deny them and take his own life.

He was not leaving there alive.
