Wow, the reactions are harsh, especially from the right. The neo-conservatives are in a panic. Rubio just became Rick Perry. Of course the left is ripping him for fun. The right is dismayed.

Lol, and the Obama sycophants are commenting how calm and confident Obama was when he gave the speech. As if that is some new revelation.

He was really struggling at one point then he took the water lol... he seemed to recover after that but either way it shows he's not used to long speeches and was generally hopeless.

The substance of Rubio's speech wasn't bad. He just looked really nervous and looked bad when he had to get a drink of water.

I dunno, Hannity has already said it was the greatest response of all time.

Where?

It was the immediate reaction on Fox and CNN. Newt was on CNN. No doubt they will try to spin it differently today.

"While the Twitterverse and even a Fox News pundit like Todd Starnes agreed
that Marco Rubio’s State of the Union thirst rebuttal would wind up on Saturday Night Live,
Sean Hannity couldn’t stop gushing over it."

Of course. It was just the right amount of Obama bashing instead of anything of substance.

Lolz, Rubio is getting panned at Hot Air (one of his biggest supporters well, among the editors anyway)

Here's a good comment:

In order to get elected, a conservative will have to articulate conservative principles in a manner that appeals to a broader electorate. This is not about pandering; this is about messaging, and Rubio didn’t come close.

Obama is not an empty suit. He is a far left liberal who has managed to make far left liberalism appealing to enough to a broad coalition of Americans to put and keep him in power. Charisma is important.

Nervousness is not an excuse. This was Rubio’s big moment, his introduction to the wider American public that he needs to get elected, and he blew it. People will see nervous and think “if this guy is this nervous before a big speech, how is he going to be when he has to make the big decisions?”

Yesterday, Rubio looked like what he is: a relatively untried, untested boy-politician trying on a suit that is currently too big for him.

He’s no Reagan. He’s not even a Clinton. Heck, at this point, he’s no Obama, who did not get nervous and fluff his first big chance.

Time to go away, Marco. You are right, Cpoy2, the future of America and its children is at stake. I’m not willing to leave it in the hands of another ambitious nobody who thinks that it is “his time”.

Rand Paul’s SOTU response was as presidential showing true leadership. Rubio’s content was good but delivery was severely lacking. To think that Rubio was the best person the GOP could come up for a SOTU response speaks volumes.

I tweeted Cheney's former chief of staff (now Rubio's) and told him we need more Rand Paul's in the U.S Senate

(He once wrote in POLITICO about Ken Buck of Colarado that 'we don't need more Rand Paul's in the U.S Senate')

chortle.

This is how the left works... they'll drive this into the ground. We can have fun with it, but the R's have no one. They wont let Rand get the nomination. This is how it goes.

He's got as good a shot as anyone at this point in time.

I really hope this is not the end of Rubio. He'll be so easy to defeat in a Presidential primary. If he's Rand's top competitor, we'll have this thing sewn up for sure.

To all of you who want to pile on Mr. Rubio, I say, hold your fire a little. Yeah, it's fun, but it'll be a lot more fun later.

They won't be able to stop it if all goes according to plan in the 2-3 early states.. what are they going to do? He could be the presumptive nominee before they know what's hit them
