LUCAS - U.S. Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., received a standing ovation Saturday night when he spoke about "out-of-control" government spending and his time on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee to a packed banquet hall at Barren River Lake State Park during the Barren County Republican Lincoln Day Dinner.
The Bowling Green senator delivered the keynote address at the annual event, speaking before the largest crowd that has ever attended the dinner, according to Barbara Pendleton, president of the Barren County Republican Women's Club, which sponsors the event along with the Republican Party of Barren County.
"It's just a time for Republicans to gather together and celebrate our heritage and the founding of our party," Pendleton said.
