SCARBOROUGH: Here you have something truly chilling. Here you have the United States government saying, we can kill you, American citizen. You have no constitutional right to a jury by your peers. You have no constitutional right even to probable cause or to due process. You have no right to a lawyer. You have no right to counsel. You have no right to anything. If we suspect you, just suspect you, without evidence, that you were thinking about committing an act against the United States of America, we can kill you.

They have evidence. It's just that the means by which that evidence was obtained is classified.

If a high level military operative came to you as president and said 'we have eyes in the sky that tell us without a doubt this man is a terrorist about to perpetrate mass killing' you might authorize drone strikes too.

Problem is, can't trust those who operate the eye in the sky. Can't trust the algorithms. Can't trust it won't be used for political motivations. Can't trust that vast power won't be (or isn't already) in the wrong hands.

The time is now to stop this slippery slope. Glad to see folks from all over the spectrum speaking out.
