Here's one reason why drone warfare and targeted killing don't really get discussed in Washington unless there's a memo leak or a protest: There's bipartisan consensus to whistle awkwardly and let the system continue. At Speaker of the House John Boehner's weekly press conference, PRI's Todd Zwillich asked whether the most powerful Republican in the country, a "constitutional officer," had any concerns about targeted killing. After all, Congress could hold hearings. Congress could cut funding.

"[House Intelligence Committee] Chairman Mike Rogers put out a statement yesterday," said Boehner, "and I agree with that statement."

He didn't quote the statement, but what Rogers said yesterday was that targeted killing of American citizens was a "lawful act of national self-defense."

You're pathetic Boehner, once again you fail to take up the mantle of the opposition.

we are an empire most global once again begging a repeating of edmund burke's quip about
the "little minds" of the same in his day when the U.K. was on the path as to its 1800s zenith

Boehner just made the list. GJ buddy!!Hmmm.... interesting. Let's see...

Suppose you're a high ranking official working in the same government as a king that has the power to kill you without trial. Would you want to question his authority to do that? Maybe Boehner was trying to keep himself off the list!

and McCain Ayotte and Graham have reserved time IN COURT today to argue in favor of indefinite detention without trial, in the emergency motion Obama brought to overturn the lower court ruling holding it is unconstitutional.
