Tuesday

7:00pm until 8:30pm

Join ASU Students For Liberty and Young Americans For Liberty for a debate on gun rights, the 2nd amendment, and gun control. Hear the arguments for both sides and participate in one of the most popular discussions in American political discourse. The progress of freedom and greater security will only occur if we continue to keep changing and talking about our ideas. Come be a part of debate!

ASU Tempe Campus, Discovery Hall Room 250

Debate speakers:

Alan Korwin
Author of five books and co-author of eight others, is a full-time freelance writer, consultant and entrepreneur with a twenty-five-year track record. Alan is one of the nation's leading Second Amendment gun-rights experts, with more than two decades of work in the field.

Supreme Court Gun Cases was his 10th book and landed him on the cover of the 600,000-circulation magazine below. He was invited by the U.S. Supreme Court to attend oral argument in both D.C. v. Heller, which led to his 11th book, The Heller Case, and McDonald v. Chicago, in which his firm Bloomfield Press was an amicus. The cases established the Second Amendment as an individual right, and applicable to the states, respectively. Alan is widely recognized as a leading expert on America's gun laws, and has made nearly 1,000 radio and TV appearances. His 13th book, After You Shoot, has motivated changes in Arizona's judicial system and a bill in the 2011 legislative session.

Ruben Gallego
Ruben was elected to serve as the State Representative for Legislative District 16 in 2010, and lives in Central Phoenix. Ruben is on the board of Valley Citizens League, the Phoenix Children’s Museum, and South Mountain Community College Advisory Board.

In 2008, he was named by the Phoenix Business Journal as one of Phoenix’s 40 people under the age of 40 that are leading the way in Phoenix. He has served on Blue Ribbon Commissions for Veteran Issues, including Governor Janet Napolitano’s Veterans Advisory Panel and Congressman Harry Mitchell’s Veterans Advisory Committee. Ruben also advises the White House on issues related to veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.
