Rep. Justin Amash a ‘firewall for freedom’, PAC says – Receives Top Status in D.C. as Lawmaker

I wonder if this "Heritage Action PAC" has any relation to the think tank

Guess who Michigan’s most conservative lawmaker is? You may not be too familiar with the name, but he’s an upcoming liberty star in the Republican Party – Justin Amash. The D.C.-located political action group “Heritage Action for America” ranked the Congressman from Michigan one of 29 for being the most well rounded conservative lawmaker for 2011-2012.

Heritage Action scored Rep. Amash with a 91 percent, noting that any lawmaker with a 90 percent or above should be seen as a key role in the conservative movement. For a young Congressman, who many say is one of the first waves of Ron Paul Republicans to take a seat inside D.C. – Amash is now the most conservative in Michigan and 19th overall, according to Heritage.

MichiganLive.com reports, “Amash’s score, for instance, was bumped up because he supported a full repeal of the Affordable Care Act and voted against the fiscal cliff deal in early January.

Still, he was faulted by Heritage Action for offering an amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act in 2011 that would have struck a provision authorizing military force against terrorism suspects.”

they neglect to say 'to be held without trial, including in the United states, of citizens, with no notice to anyone.'

that would be the MIC influence on Herigage in my view, if they are related.

Only conservatives would be so backward as to have a "freedom award" where one of the things that is judged on is something that invites tyranny.

We have a president who won a Nobel Peace Prize while maintaining a "Kill List"....the world is insane.

Heritage Action is a sister organisation of the Heritage Foundation and pretty much the Heritage Foundation's PAC.

Hopefully with Senator Demint now in charge, they won't score a vote against the indefinite detention amendment that I hope will be presented again by Rep. Amash.

Slightly different situation. Rand's amendment (which DeMint supported) was only to stop the detention of US citizens. Amash's amendment was for both US citizens and foreign citizens.
