Hello I was recently involved in the 2012 grassroots and I am so disappointed in what happened, even though I expected it. We have four years to prepare now, so let's put our eggs in multiple baskets. Democrats, Republicans, 3rd Party, and let's get off the grid for the economic apocalypse if that's what it will take. I have so many ideas ready to share.

Not going to happen. Smart grid is developing quickly and moving closer into the model of future building/services infrastructure in practically every form applicable and almost comical is how it's actually progressing right under everyones noses. There's no espcaping the smart grid. The people demand it. If even unwittingly. They'll surely piss and moan about it later though when their jaws start dropping with the old "Da fuk?" gag.

I suppose in that regard that the best way to actually get off of the traditional grid would be to transist with a smarter one in a manner less transparent from a consumerist perspective. less chance of scrutiny if the consumer is happy right this second.

I agree with becoming less dependent on the system. First step is to plant a garden. Start there. Liberty Gardens FTW.

That's how I grew up. Cripes, we never went into town for anything. Didn't have to. Except for mail, I guess. I don't think I even ate at a restaurant until i was in my mid twenties. Worst food I ever ate up until that point too.
