... and excellent story written by Cliff Kincaid; one of the best (Conservative, mind you!) media watchdogs out there. Kincaid is also the fellow who wrote the piece about the FOX/Giuliani conflict of interest posted earlier. It'd behoove us to keep a close track on his commentaries, as I'm sure there will be more on the Ron Paul -vs- media issue.

Why Are They Lying About Ron Paul?

By Cliff Kincaid | May 18, 2007

In a desperate attempt to make Rudy Giuliani out to be the hero of Tuesday night's debate, Fox News is continuing to attack Texas Congressman Ron Paul for something he did not say. In the latest installment of this campaign, John Gibson of Fox News says that Paul "suggested that the U.S. actually had a hand in the [9/11] terrorist attacks." No, what he said was that U.S. foreign policy was a reason why Osama bin Laden attacked America. This is a fact.

Gibson's comment shows how Fox News has been eager to slant the news in favor of Giuliani, who claimed in his famous response to Paul that the congressman had said that the U.S. "invited" the 9/11 attacks. That was false, too.

Thats fine if you think that by why do you think he's an idiot?
Is it because he votes according to the Constitution?
Is it because he votes against spending more american tax dollars?
Is it because he votes against tax increases?
Is it because he is the only consistently voting member of congress?
Is it because he recognizes our interventionist foreign policy creates terrorism and wants to end it?
Is it because he recognizes the problems with inflation and money printing and wants to edit federal reserve?
Is it because he cares about your civil liberties and votes to protect them?

Why would I get censored for speaking the truth? Isn't that hypocritical, as you RP supports are whinning about someone not wanting RP to be in the debates. So, you won't to remove me from the debates on here?

I have one question - why does Ron Paul protect child predators/pornographers?

We'd be happy to discuss policy with you, TC. I'm not sure what you're referring to though. Can you elaborate a little more?

That's not what someone posts when they are looking for a debate.

I think Ron Paul would be the first to stand up for your first amendment right to spew bullshit.

RP only votes on issues according to the constitution. I suspect the issues you're talking about fell into that category.

Sounds more like TrueTroll than his current moniker. If he knew ANYTHING about Conservatism, he'd know only too well that Ron Paul is - quite literally - the only TrueConservative remaining in either the House, Senate or White House.

Maybe a civics/history lesson would do him (her) some good?

I'm not sure what you're referring to, so I'll have to guess. Is this about voting against a particular internet regulation bill?

Some child predators use the internet, that is true. But some use the telephone, so should we have the government eavesdrop on our telephone calls? Some child predators lurk on street corners, so would the government have cameras watching us? It frightens me to think that some nations have actually said "yes" to these questions!

There is this thing we have called The US Constitution. True conservatives believe in the constitution. They believe that government has no legitimate power but what is spelled out in the constitution. It is not an open ended document, it's purpose is to limit government.

As a "true conservative", tell us where in the US Constitution the Federal Government has been given the power to regulate the internet? I can't find it. We may disagree over interpretations of various clauses in that document, but for the life of me I can't find anything even remotely related to the regulation of communication technology.

I'm going to take a wild ass guess that your pissed because Dr. Paul didn't embrace some censorship law that tramples all over the freedom of expression. It's clear that you have only a vague notion of what liberty means. I'm going to suggest you try reading the constitution and bill of rights a few times.

For some reason, it appears that Trevor believes that he owns the Tea Party fundraiser and it is up to his whim, whether it will occur or not occur.

That is not only leaping well beyond evidence, but remarkably catty as well.

It makes me very cynical to see how people willingly allow them to be taken in by deeply misleading allegations like this.

Up here in a house seat race both in television attack ads and in a live debate one candidate made the following allegation against her opponent:

"My opponent has voted against making it a crime to run a meth lab within 100 feet of a school and has voted against requiring notification when an out of state sex offender moves into a neighborhood."

Of course in reality there were competing bills and amendments.

But it's so absurd when you think of the gall of it, that a candidate is communicating the ridiculous message essentially that:

"My opponent can't be trusted to protect our children against drug dealers and out of state sex offenders."

And people are influenced by this. If they don't remember the specific allegations, they still allow themselves to be influenced emotionally. It's despicable.

I think the guy may be talking about the Amber Act.

We all know the Rave Act was hidden within the Amber Act, so that something that sounded good like the Amber Act was being used to conceal an anti-liberty bill.
