CBS (http://www.deadline.com/tag/cbs/) has added a medical drama to its mix of drama pilots, greenlighting The Surgeon General (http://www.deadline.com/tag/the-surgeon-general/)from Lie To Me creator/executive producer Samuel Baum (http://www.deadline.com/?s=Samuel+Baum). Baum wrote and executive produces the CBS TV Studios-produced project, which centers on Dr. John Sherman — the most powerful doctor in the nation, the Surgeon General, who has 315 million patients. As “America’s Doctor,” Sherman and his team battle the powerful forces of politics and business, fighting to protect the health of everyday Americans.

That's right. Free to the masses, which means plenty of ads for Big Pharma.

Despite this, I am still glad and proud to be one of the few that cancelled cable and all mainstream TV viewing.

I kept netflix, that's all.

Despite this? It's actually further reason to throw the tv out the window.

When I moved to Korea, I was so busy and almost all the stations were of course in Korean... I haven't watched much TV in 10 years.

Great another TV show glorifying the Death Care System...I mean the modern medical system

On CBS? I suspect it will be a commercial for Obamacare.

Actually TV is about to get better. According to Lew Rockwell, Ron Paul is taking to the airwaves.

That's what we did, too. Although, in addition to Netflix we subscribe to Hulu and have available amazon instant video.

Big oops!

Meant "in light of this, I am proud" I think I was typing and thinking something else at the same time. :D

Same here... 4 years now with only netfilx and internet. Don't even have a digital antenna. I now find it so annoying to be near a television with it's constant commercial BS that it's almost painful...

While I won't be watching that load of crap, The walking Dead returns February 10, and the third season of Game of Thrones starts March 31.

For anyone with the instant viewing capability for Netflix, I recommend checking out the BBC series, Sherlock. I've always a fan of the books, but let me tell you, this modern day interpretation of the puzzle solving mad genius is no less than amazing. The acting is superb, and the writing/directing is second to none. The show manages to recreate Doyle's classic protagonist while retaining much of what made his books/short stories classic.

I may actually like this show better than Breaking Bad, which says a lot.

Here's a teaser:

Same here! If you step away from mainstream and then return, you can really see how they treat their audience like children! its SCARY.

From what I've heard, it is going to be an internet based show.

You just described the actions of the marxists. They treat people like children, and blame everything on others. Whites blamed for any failure of minorities. Couldn't be that they didn't study, could it? And, of course the children can't use dangerous weapons to protect themselves. Nor do they have enough sense to know how many Cokes to drink, or what to eat. Do it for the children. They don't tell you they consider all citizens, 'children' and will treat them as such.

Ugh...I can't stand most TV. Parks and Rec on Hulu is about all I watch. Ron Swanson kicks ass.

And I haven't watched a network news broadcast in years. It usually takes about 5 seconds before the anchor spews BS. Even the local news is so full of idocracy and terrible logic that I can't stand it.

the Three Stooges, however are a thing of beauty!!

Once again, Internetz FTW! Turn off the idiot box!

Post script: the 'ouch my nuts' show from idocracy was spot on with the America's got talent but-bashing guy. There's a meme of that floating around if I recall...

Same here. Youtube is available now as well on XBOX Live, so I'm happy(except for the fact Netflix selections SUCK, and it takes FOREVER for them to update, at least on XBOX, anyway, and Hulu doesn't really have anything I'm interested in).

I miss the days of when Mad Men was good. It illustrated so much of America's quiet, lonely desperation with her haggly old body and mind.

Some links you might like:
(When I ran out of money to pay $90/mo for the 4 or 5 channels I watched I have seen the best TV I've ever seen)

(Not all the links work all the time but usually most of them do)

(you can stream the video, pause it while it downloads, then save it (http://nirsoft.net/utils/video_cache_view.html) from the cache)

You can see almost everything you want and lots of good stuff you never knew existed (Spooks, Apprentice UK, etc) and not even spark up a torrent app

Bye Bye Direct TV

I have a $10 indoor antenna and watch a few shows. I don't pay for satellite/cable or internet. I take the savings and purchase 3 oz of silver every month. I own a laptop and go to McDonalds and purchase a cup of joe should I "have" to get online or I get online at work. I highly value my library card :) Currently reading the Fountainhead.

We've been reluctant to pull the plug past locals. We live to far from a big city to get your abc's, nbc's etc of the world. The only reason we'd like to keep them is incase of a weather alert etc.

When I got my new place I didn't even bother with cable. Costs well over $1000 a year and 1/3rd of it's usage is spent on advertising/consumerism. $300+ to watch and listen to lawyers speed read side effects that include death for 20 minutes on the hour? No thanks.

Yeah I miss my roof antenna: I would get RT, Al Jazeera, and NHK world. Got to see some fascinating stuff from across the globe.

I wish there were more of you in Roanoke. Everyone I know down there is a commie, and that's not representative of the general population, which seems to be straight Zionist warmongers. The rodeo scene in Borat was particularly funny if you know the area....

Yeah same here with the ps3 - and if you download the YouTube remote you can control everything from your cellphone on the sofa to the ps3 and watch YouTube videos. There's Netflix and a couple others too I see. I never used ps3 until my son told me I can watch movies off You Tube on the TV with an app on my cellphone. It's kind of interesting how everything is connected as soon as you sign into your Google account on the ps3. Amazing to say the least.

Just moved here in November. All I see when driving is Romney and Obama stickers. Roll down window...insert hand into mouth...and vomit! Any specific area/place I should check out?
