Michael Drysch (http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/8885481/michael-drysch-fan-hit-half-court-shot-pay-22k-taxes) hit a half-court shot the other day and won $75,000 for himself and for the Boys and Girls Club of America. About $22,000 will be taken in taxes.

I guess if thats to much I'd still take the $52k. But yeah after federal, state and maybe local that seems about par for the current course.

Even in the grotesque UK they don't tax winnings.

I'm against all taxes.

But of all the examples there are, it's tough to see how this guy would be the one anyone's going to feel sorry for.

Pretty sure I'm in a higher tax bracket than this guy.

Same with Canada. All lottery, raffle, and content winnings are tax-free.

I found a $10 bill on the ground... am I supposed to 'legally' pay taxes on that?

They should give a before and after taxes winnings number, just to show everyone in that stadium what exactly is going on. Along with those statistics on how other countries do not tax winnings.
