In an interesting turn of events, a concerned citizen, took matters into his own hands and arrested a police officer, who he suspected was driving drunk.

A man drove along a road when he noticed an on-duty police officer, was driving recklessly and swerving.

The citizen suspected that the officer was drunk, so he arrested the officer by placing the officer in the back of the officer’s own police patrol car, according a witness.

According to reports, Russell George, of Prestbury, South Africa, saw a police officer driving a police car recklessly, before stopping abruptly. George stopped at the side of the road and asked the officer if he was ok. The officer then drove off.

George called the police and reported the situation, but no one came to stop the drunken officer. Then, George saw the officer had stopped again. That is when George approached the officer who has since been identified as 28-year-old Nkuleleko Mbanjwa.

"I approached the driver's side and asked him to come out of the car. I looked at him and I could smell that he had been drinking," George said.

When Mbanjwa refused to exit the car, George took away the keys, pulled him out of the car and locked him in the back seat of the police car.

Khanyi Mnikathi, who witnessed the incident, also believes that the officer was intoxicated.

Officer Mbanjwa was arrested on charges of driving under the influence, reckless driving and negligence.

I was going to say...no way that was in the USA. The guy would have been shot before he got within 10 feet of the car.

If this happened in America, the guy would have been murdered almost immediately.

Hypocrisy being exposed. Cop kills you dog - it's self defense. You kill a police K-9, go to jail for homicide of an officer, etc...

Indeed. The best thing to do when you see a cop is walk (not run...he may shoot you) the other way.

If you confront them in any way, there is a chance you won't walk away from the situation. At the very least they are going to throw you in a cage or potentially assault you.
