I don't get it either. I have been an Obama supporter since he first came on the scene and I live in rural Georgia. I have been telling my family for years that he isn't going to enact gun control because it would be political suicide. They kept telling me "As soon as he gets a second term, he's gonna terk mah guns!"
I kept telling them they were paranoid.
Obama has made me look like a fucking uneducated idiot in front of my redneck family, most of whom didn't graduate high school. And I fucking hate him for it. I regret voting for him, even though I would have never voted for Romney.
Nothing is going to get accomplished and all it's going to do is assure republican victories in the midterms. Although at this point, that idea is not as disappointing as it was 2 months ago.

I have to reply to this as the exact same thing happened to me. I even pointed out that Obama signed a bill that allowed the concealed carry in national parks.. now I am finding myself writing my reps in congress to vote against the guy I helped vote into office.. I am regretting my decision now too.

I have the same damn experience. I voted for Obama, and sincerely believed that he was too smart to push for gun control -- I called others ignorant when they said he would push for second-term gun control. Then he did. And I was wrong.
Fuck.
If I could, I would un-donate. This is not the politician that I thought I was supporting...

I just don't understand why the left feels that now is the time to burn their political capital restricting guns. The assault weapons ban didn't decrease gun violence in a statistically significant way. Gun violence is on the decline. The lion's share of gun deaths come from pistols and few people want to go as far as to ban pistols.
Is it the barrage of mass shootings plastered all over television that's making us lose our sense? Would the shooters have been stopped had existing laws been enforced or new ones enacted? What new laws? Are we just putting a band-aid on a bullet wound to make us collectively feel better so that we can move on? That's not good enough. If we want to have an effect on gun violence we need to be smarter and less emotionally reactive.
Many examples. Lol. Buyers remorse.
