I have seen several people infer that Rand Paul is a racist or implied something racist with his nullification comments on the 2nd Amendment. The supreme court case Ableman v Booth took place when the state supreme court of Wisconsin essentially attempted to nullify the fugitive slave act by asserting that slavery was unconstitutional. The court ruled unanimously that what the Wisconsin court did was unconstitutional, but to the average individual this is a clear demonstration of nullification being used to fight back against slavery. Northern nullification was actually a real contributing factor in the civil war. I think showing that acts against a tyrannical government are the farthest thing from racist is the most effective way to go about this debate.
