All through my life there has been an argument over how much to spend on defense. Has anyone noticed that since George Bush came into power nobody uses this term anymore?

Defense has become "the War on Terror".

This may seem like no big deal but it is a very significant change in US policy and it is underscored by the media and the general population's complicity.

Ron Paul should make this a point in the next debate.

To Ron Paul supporters it is obvious but there are quite a few ordinary citizens who have not noticed the dramatic shift.

I think sometimes Ron Paul's arguments go right over some people's heads.
He needs to hone his message for delivery to a wider audience somehow.

It would be worth looking at how Ronald Reagan connected with ordinary citizens.

I prefer Ron Paul, of course, but I think he could learn a thing or two by examining Ronald Reagan's methods.
