They went straight for the gun safe:

-
A White Plains residence pinpointed on a controversial handgun permit database was burglarized Saturday, and the burglars’ target was the homeowner’s gun safe.

At least two burglars broke into a home on Davis Avenue at 9:30 p.m. Saturday but were unsuccessful in an attempt to open the safe, which contained legally owned weapons, according to a law enforcement source. One suspect was taken into custody, the source said.

The gun owner was not home when the burglary occurred, the source said. The victim, who is in his 70s, told Newsday on Sunday that he did not want to comment while the police investigation continues.

[...]

Neighbor John Mascia said he thought the gun permit database should not have been published.

“I could [not] care less what they have in their home,” Mascia said.

Police are investigating what role, if any, the database played in the burglars’ decision to target the home, the law enforcement source said.

Well, what a surprise.

if you think about it, it makes sense.
1) sandy hook and colorado shooting made the price of guns sky rocket
2) newspaper publishes everyone that owns a gun and their address
3) criminal will stake out a house and wait for owners to leave home and then goes straight for the guns.
4) steal and sell for hundreds of dollars, maybe thousands.

4) steal and sell for hundreds of dollars, maybe thousands.
5) the guns (which are now illegal) will then be used in more crimes
6) more gun crimes will ensure more gun laws
7) the State's little game (in conjunction with their media) continues its circle

This is grounds to PUSH BACK on registration.

CLEARLY, registration of firearms amounts to ENDANGERING oneself. We are not obliged to INCRIMINATE ourselves, but we shall be compelled to ENDANGER ourselves? TPTB are altogether unlikely to roll back current controls, but making them fight (spend resources) to justify/protect their current controls instead of always defending against more controls will mix up the Toxic Tango.

FLOODING THEM WITH LEGAL would be a terrific tactic, if Liberty Lawyers would work pro bono...or if we had MONEY TO BURN, like they do. Otherwise, WHO'S FOOTING THE BILLS?

"Our" what's-in-your-wallet Legal System is one of the broken-est cogs of the BIG Broken System. Peons will NOT assert meaningful reform via the "Legal System" OR via Mainstream Media...the imbalance/injustice has progressed too far. By the time Peons could AFFORD the outcomes they desire via JUSTICE or MEDIA, their interests would align with Big Money.

I agree.
The pendulum needs to be pushed back. On several fronts.

“The Affiliated Police Association of Westchester County Inc. is putting The Journal News on notice that we will hold [them] accountable for any incident where any of our over 25,000 members are involved with an incident where a criminal or ex-con presents themselves at the residence of one of our members as a result of their name being made public by [their] newspaper,” said Buckley.

Any of THEIR 25,000 members. Not Joe Mundane. WOW this pissed me off.

The fact that they are only worried about their own is really messed up, but dang 25,000 members. That is a shit ton for one county..no?

Folks paid with tax dollars should have their names and addresses made public knowledge, this idea that it's alright to hide from public scrutiny and not be held accountable is for the birds!

Some organizations have money and lawyers. NRA, GOA, JPFO, etc. Maybe some e-mails suggesting a class action law suite would get the ball moving. I suspect they are waiting for more than one burglary. Might also ask them if they know of any pro-bono firearms lawyers.
