In the past couple weeks, Ron Paul has had minimal attention but a lot to say. After his farewell speech, Paul would go on to talk to various news sources about how Congress’ goals are different from what you think they are, how the fiscal cliff bill was passed under no review, and how we’ve already plummeted over the cliff, just to list a few. Let’s begin from the start with Ron Paul’s 40-minute farewell speech. Arguably one of the greatest speeches of the modern era. He spent his time analyzing not only the decision making of his fellow congress members, but questioning their reason as well; an aspect that few politicians have to offer these days. Here is an excerpt from the speech:

Why do so many members defend civil liberties, and not free markets? Aren’t they the same? Why don’t more defend economic liberty, and personal liberty? Why aren’t there more individuals who seek to intellectually influence others to be bring about positive changes, than those who seek power to force others to obey their commands.

He also went on to note the abundance of corruption, hypocrisy, false information, and motives behind the political agenda. What is disheartening is how alone he is. He is possibly the only person in our memories who stood for the truth and held a political office. That is the role of every politician and us as a society can only name one.
