Noveske Rifleworks owner dies in single-car crash

http://community.statesmanjournal.com/blogs/hookandbullet/2013/01/07/noveske-rifleworks-owner-dies-in-single-car-crash

John Noveske, the owner of Noveske Rifleworks in Grants Pass, was killed Friday in a single-car crash, according to the Oregon State Police.

Sgt. Tyler Lee said that Noveske’s 1984 Toyota Land Cruiser crossed the oncoming lane on a curve on Highway 260 and went onto the dirt shoulder, then struck two large boulders.

The vehicle rolled, ejecting Noveske.

State police said that he was not wearing a seat belt, and was pronounced dead at the scene.

A post in the Noveske Rifleworks Facebook page says in part: “We would like to thank you for your support as we deal with our loss … John was more than just the founder of Noveske Rifleworks, he was a loving husband and father, and caring friend.”

So he was from Kentucky but died here in Georgia?

I never knew what to make of FPS russia. Where the hell does he get all that money (not that having a lot of money is a crime or sinister, but I wonder if he owed someone a lot of money)?

I assume FPS Russia (multi-millionaire now) pays for the guns. FPS Russia gets money through YouTube's partner program and paid sponsorships from video game publishers and firearms manufacturers.

He makes money from ads on his videos. YouTube Amy's about $5-10 per 1000 views and he gets around 2 million views per video.

There are a lot of guns he can't legally own, all the brand new automatic rifles, for example. That's why he partnered with an FFL holder who can legally have the guns and loan them to him for the videos.

That's not including the money he's paid by video game developers and firearms manufacturers. Pretty much every video of his is advertising something.

His channel has over 500,000,000 views, assuming 60% of views are monetizable (it's probably higher for him because I'd imagine the vast majority of people watch the whole video), that's 300 million views. At around $7/1000 views that gives $2.1 million in revenue.

There’s a story out of Carnesville, Georgia that Keith Ratliff, manager for the popular YouTube celebrity FPSRussia (and the man with the FFL that gets him his toys) was found dead, reportedly tied to a chair (unconfirmed sources on that tip). Police say the cause of death was a single gunshot wound to the head, and are treating the incident as a homicide.

One of the operators of a popular YouTube channel promoting high-powered guns and explosives was found shot to death last week in northeast Georgia.

Keith Ratliff, 32, was found dead Thursday evening on Hayes Road in Carnesville, radio station WLHR-FM reported.

Franklin County Sheriff Stevie Thomas told the station that Ratliff, of Frankfort, Ky., had been shot once in the head, and that his death was being treated as a homicide until the investigation proves otherwise.

The GBI has been called in to assist in the investigation, and Ratliff’s body was taken to the GBI Crime Lab in Atlanta for an autopsy.

Ratliff, along with Kyle Lamar Myers, who appears in the online videos, operate the “FPSRussia” YouTube channel, which has 3.4 million subscribers. Videos posted on the channel have racked up more than a half-billion views. According to YouTube, FPSRussia is the ninth-most popular channel on the website.

Agreed.

edit: But not so bad that the manager deserved to be whacked.

As we should like tools, so we should also like guns just as we do hammers, shovels, and the like. I treat a nail gun just as I would a gun. One first prepares what they need to nail, after achieving a higher state of awareness the nails are then shot into the boards, and then the gun is discharged from the air hose immediately.

Hate to say it, but I wouldn't be surprised if he was selling to criminals, and they had their own reasons for doing this. It's just hard to imagine an anti-gun person being this crazy much less capable of pulling it off. Then again stranger things have happened... Hope the investigation yields results.

I sure hope some of his weapons don't show up later in other incidents. He ends up dead (allegedly tied to a chair, execution style), who knows what was taken and by whom? This is very weird and troubling.

Those are some great nail guns. Question: Will they take away our nail guns as well? I remember reading about a fellow of the Hispanic persuasion shooting six nails into his head. After he passed out shooting the first one into his skull, his head continue bouncing off the gun to the extent he shot five more into it.
Anyway, the use of a nail gun is just as dangerous if not more so than a bullet gun.

Plenty of people among us aren't anti-gun, but are anti-you-having-a-gun.
