Radio talk show host and ardent Homeland Security critic Alex Jones was detained by the TSA at Austin-Bergstrom airport earlier today and threatened with arrest for refusing to take his shoes off at a security checkpoint.

Unless he was in a TSA Pre-check line (I doubt it, since I can't picture Alex Jones applying for Trusted Traveler status), he has to take his shoes off like the rest of us.

So he must have planned it as simple civil disobedience, as he's no dummy.

Once upon a time it was cool to fly commercial.

As a million mile flier and one who has to do so on a regular basis, I concur and can assure you it is an aching, royal PITA nowadays.

Also you know you're making waves when this happens. Also scary as well, they know who we are and they are always watching closely.

As soon as he approached security, Jones was addressed by a TSA screener who said, “Hello Mr. Jones,” indicating that she knew who he was, and immediately ordered him to remove his shoes.

I have flown once since 9/11 and that was enough for me. I would rather drive from Maine to Los Angeles and then take a boat to Hawaii. I will not go into commercial air again, until we abolish the TSA.

I would imagine that they can look up the passenger list. You'd be a fool to think Jone's isn't on the "naughty" list.

It has just been reported he was hiding the Dianne Feinstein sock-puppet, that's why he was reluctant to remove shoes.

Screw the TSA.

Go get 'em, Alex. I'm sure Alex did this to keep the TSA in the headlines so that people wouldn't fall back to sleep on this issue. Good on him.

I can't wait for this issue to come up and watch Alex hand Mr. Morgan his balls personally gift-wrapped in tin-foil tonight.

Serious question. What happens to peoples with prosthetics? Are they required to remove them for x-ray scanner?
