The retort that lower taxes would fund less government is unlikely to go far with Mr. Dickinson, who says he "would cheerfully pay the amount of tax I do at the moment if I didn't pay it to the government."

Bruce seems to be quite 'the Clairvoyant' since he understands 'the Evil that Men Do' and doesn't want to spend 'Wasted Years' as a 'Stranger in a Strange Land' with really high taxes.

I was lucky enough to hear Maiden perform this live and Bruce Dickinson gave a wonderful intro talking about his views on warfare and the idiocy of governments. The song is about an average young man who gets sent to a war he does not understand and is asked to shoot other young men who did nothing to him and his moral/philosophical struggle with it.

Maiden is not the only metal band who has been promoting liberty messages in their music for years. There is a long list of metal bands that have been fighting this fight for a long time. I will not name them all but I think a lot of folks here would like Queensryche and Iced Earth especially.
