A couple of years ago, Ron Paul voted in favor of a bill that extended the Bush tax cuts for people who make less than $250,000 a year. The bill didn't extend the tax cuts for those who make more than $250,000 a year. He voted for the bill on the basis that saving the Bush tax cuts for 98% of the American people is better than allowing all of the Bush tax cuts to expire. Was Ron Paul right in his reasoning?

I suppose he could have not voted at all on it. If he voted no, that would have been essentially voting in favor of higher taxes for 96% of taxpayers.

The same principle applied in this situation. Those who voted against the fiscal cliff bill essentially voted in favor of massive tax increases on 100% of the American people.
