In a very short time , at the end of this session, Texas Congressman Ron Paul will be retiring from the House after many years of honorable service of trying to steer the country back to it’s Constitutional roots.

Paul, the champion of the libertarian movement in America, offers some advice for members who will be taking their oaths in a very short time, according to his latest “Texas Straight Talk” Dec. 31.

First, the cornerstone of serving in the House, Paul recommends that members reread Article 1 Section 8 and the Bill of Rights before taking their oath of office.

Paul proclaims, “Most legislation violates key provisions of the Constitution in very basic ways, and if members can’t bring themselves to say no in the face of pressure from special interests, they have broken trust with their constituents and violated their oaths.

“Congress does not exist to serve special interests, it exists to protect the rule of law.”

The lone voice for a non-interventionist foreign policy in the Republican Presidential Primary debates in 2008 and 2012, Paul pleas with his colleagues to stop all the unconstitutional wars overseas.

“Stop the drone strikes; stop the covert activities and meddling in the internal affairs of other nations. Strive to observe “good faith and justice towards all Nations” as George Washington admonished”, Paul states.

Not only does the retiring Dr. Paul advise Members of Congress to read the Constitution to understand their authority in foreign affairs like war and foreign aid, he says that a reexamination of the parameters of Article 1 Section 8 would also be a great start to getting the country’s fiscal and monetary woes put back on a path of prosperity and freedom.

They should have to pass a test just to become candidates.

I wish. And their constituents should get their graded scores and answers.
