Heard this while watching Alex the other day from a caller :D Genius idea. If a gun free zone makes our schools safer, it should make the president safer too, right? Right?

The elephant in the room is that the laws do not apply equally for peasants and nobles.

Think of all the money to be saved by being able to send home the Secret Service.

I don't know why, but every time I hear or see that name written, I think of "Secret Squirrel."

Presidents 1-15 never had bodyguards. Lincoln became the first President to have any security, and it was just one guy, and only because of the Civil War. The White House used to also have no fence and anyone could walk in at anytime and request to see the President. Today the President has a small army of armed security and the White House looks like this:

So what's the story here? Are people today simply more violent? The first fifteen Presidents survived just fine without anyone (except Richard Lawrence) trying to kill them.

So does that mean a future Libertarian candidate would get rid of the security apparatus altogether eventually?

Might as well. When GE comes for him, that fence won't stop their drone.

That fence is clearly designed to protect enemies of the people. A friend of the people will be needing something like a Patriot anti-missile missile array.

I saw Ron Paul on the campaign trail. I saw no armed guards, clowns in suits with earphones in their ears and bulges in their clothes, or people screening attendees and denying them entrance based on what their T-shirts said.

Was I blind? Or was there nothing to see?

Thread winner.

A "beloved leader of the people" does not need a carrier battle group and a battalion of ground troops "protecting" him, 24/7.

Should I mention the three different occasions I shook the man's hand while CCW?

He traveled with one full time and hired local security for events. But he also went unescorted sometimes, like for his morning breakfast.

No he needs to be protected from those in the government who would like to see him "out of the way."
