I don't think we've discussed this. With only the problem of looking like two old men running against Hillary, this would be a kickass ticket!

Paul/Goldwater 08!

Sanford or Palin for me.

Preferably Sanford, with Palin as SecState.

Then in 2016 we can have a Sanford/Palin ticket. :D

WTF does that mean?
You don't think a woman can be a good VP?

Palin is very young and has been a Governor less than one year.

I don't really see the appeal.

here we go again with the vp threads...

I'll say what I say every time...

lets make RP win 1st, then lets let RP select his VP :)

I just heard about THEODORE TERBOLIZARD through his YouTube videos. He might make a good VP.

I agree her experience is a little low, but I think she may be ideal due to the woman factor (This will be a much bigger deal is Hillary is nominated). She's also incredibly popular. Her age is also a good asset (Sorry, Ron's old, and Goldwater's no much younger). I'm a bit unfamiliar with her specific policies though.

Goldwater wouldn't be bad though.

I'm all for Andrew Napolitano. He'll bring a fiery edge to the campaign that will make Giuliani look like a puppy dog.

No Fox employees, please.

Right, since the individual worth of a person has nothing to do with it.

Why do people like Palin? The one time I heard her speak she sounded like a typical centrist to me.

There is Young and then there is Politics Young. Early 40s with 1 year in a major office is usually seen as much more green than in other places. Hell, 40 is acceptable as a time for 'youthful indiscretions."

Apparently a lot of people like her as VP candidate for any of the GOP candidates. I guess the woman "thing" and looks ( no offense, but every pic of her I have seen looks like she is from a schoolteacher or milf porno).

Goldwater's a terrible choice - everyone remembers Barry for losing big by saying he'd keep the nuke option on the table. That's nothing like Paul!

Palin vs Hilary is a good counter pick for Paul

If Obama get's it, there is a black dude who Ron Paul favours, can't remember his name.

Edwards gets it, wait to see who he picks for his VP.

The VP candidate has one purpose, and that is to get the Presidential candidate elected.

Sarah Palin is liked locally and scores some demographic points, but I still feel that Chuck Hagel is the rock solid favorite.

He's a "family values" conservative Republican from the "Heartland", has a distinguished military career, looks like he could still kick your ass, yet also had the guts to publicly trash the administration over the Iraq War. He's a good speaker and debater as well.

Most importantly, he brings a mainstream image that will tone done Paul's "fringe wacko" aura. People would be comfortable with him stepping into the Oval Office after Paul.

(Note, I have nothing against Sanford either, just haven't seen him in action.)

So I guess we'd be sacrificing the other purpose of being the backup president? Who else could we pick anyway, apparently there's nobody like Ron Paul.

That was Barry Goldwater, Sr. who is dead. Barry Goldwater, Jr is his son and his policies are very much in line with Ron Paul's policies.

Palin is great ... we'd like to keep her as governor for a bit longer up here though. ;) If she had already finished a term as guv I think it would make more sense.

I'd really like to see Mark Sanford as the VP choice.

FYI, Palin got into office in part because she strongly distanced herself from the previous corrupt governor (Frank Murkowski) and is very much for transparency in government and other cool stuff.

What's the point of debating something that's out of your control? RP has been in politics for over 30 years, maybe-- just maybe, he knows who to pick.

Hagel would be a good one as well. Experience, pretty much the same policies, and can bring the social conservatives in (Though with hillary running, I don't think that'd be a problem)

DJLoTi- Why do you keep reading threads you are clearly not interested in?

I think either a strong woman or an African American Man or Woman would definitely help Ron counter the Hillary / Barack ticket, presuming they form one. I'm going to have to ponder this.

We are weakest in the female area, and we need that half to win

Sanford or Walter Williams.

These threads are stupid anyway. We don't get to choose. And I think we need to get the nomination first.
