The fourth episode that aired tonight was good ("The Book of Levi"). Didn't care for the second episode where they burned the cannabis plants.

No, that's the thing, these guys are Mennanites who are operating as the Amish Mafia using an insurance front. They are able to perform a lot of functions that Amish cannot and so they 'protect' the community from outside forces and from themselves.

It's crazy, they caught an Amish religious/community leader and business owner going to prostitutes and they blackmailed him into turning over a bunch of his businesses to them. If they didn't do that, he would have been cast out of the church and lost everything. They are accepted by the community because they have integrated through these types of arrangments and have sort of become a security/police force.

Hogwash. The shits so completely fake and bullshit it's not even funny. This is where I was raised. Lebanon Levi. Bullshit right from the start. No one with any bit of a dutch accent from the area says Leb-ah-non. They could at least get that right.

Amish have a non-violent culture. They probably don't have protection rackets, though I can see extortionists within the community because they won't appeal for outside help.

Here's a good reason. To keep the feds from seizing the land.

Even if it were true, the show is pretty boring. Hardly a "mafia". I would just laugh if one of these guys came knocking on my door.

it's called education and enlightenment, more exposure to lifestyles we know little about. It might not be completely accurate, but it's something.

Reality TV is one of the biggest oxymorons in todays world. This show looks to be just as much of a joke as that show Moonshiners is.

That may be, but absence of it, most people would never hear anything of these people. Reality TV isn't completely unscripted, but it sure beats the completely scripted ones.

I sometimes think they put a bunch of random words on pieces of paper in a jar and then pick two of them out to make these shows. "Amish Mafia", lol.
