My first thought was could this work out for us, but there are an awful lot of Congressmen with DUIs, aren't there? They just do a confessional with their spouse, go to treatment, and it becomes poor form to discuss it.

But Idaho should support a true conservative, that's for sure.

Idaho is like South Carolina where a vacancy allows the Governor to appoint a replacement until the next scheduled general election.

Butch Otter was one of the only Republicans to vote against the PATRIOT Act in 2001. He might be the most liberty-minded governor in the country.

Hm. I'll hope, then.

I don't support DUI laws in general but this is a political opportunity. Seems elected officials are dropping off like flies lately and leaving voids.

ALEXANDRIA, Va. (AP) — U.S. Sen. Michael Crapo was arrested early Sunday morning and charged with driving under the influence in a Washington, D.C., suburb, authorities said.

Police in Alexandria, Va., said Sunday that the Idaho Republican was pulled over after his vehicle ran a red light. Police spokesman Jody Donaldson said Crapo failed field sobriety tests and was arrested at about 12:45 a.m. He was transported to the Alexandria jail and released on an unsecured $1,000 bond at about 5 a.m..

Isn't he a Mormon who claims not to drink?

He's a Mormon. Dunno if he's claimed abstinence from alcohol though. The notion of any Congresscritter being sober is laughable.

Note to Crapo. Don't take DUI tests. If you had been reading RPF you would have known this.

Don't cops simply flash their badge and avoid DUI's? I'm surprised the Senator couldn't work out something.

If he is force out over this it would be one less pro Second Amendment, anti LOST and other United Nations treaty vote in the Senate.

So now we know why this didn't all just get quietly swept under the rug to begin with.

Estimates on Baucus' blood alcohol during that speech? I'll go with only about .14.

They get immunity, they get used to it, then they step over that line when they should be 'playing ball'...

Yeah, Crapo's BAC was .11, he should've just taken a field test and probably would have passed.

Yeah, Crapo's BAC was .11, he should've just taken a field test and probably would have passed.

Article says he did take field tests and failed.

Dont take field tests, especially if you're around a .11 where you might not be impaired but you're not sure about the exact number. The cop knows you've been drinking, so do you. Don't give him evidence by taking tests. You may still be arrested but you at least have leverage at trial. Don't talk to the police.
