Unions are in the business of taking your money. If they actually fought and won for your rights then they'd be out of a job. They give only enough to maintain relevancy and to get more of your money...nothing more nothing less.

2010 - NRA Trades First Amendment Rights for Second Amendment Rights (http://www.thenewamerican.com/usnews/politics/item/3178-nra-trades-first-amendment-rights-for-second-amendment-rights)

The National Rifle Association (NRA) has confirmed that they willingly cut a deal with Congress at the expense of free speech that says: We will not stand in the way of the proposed Disclose Act, believed to infringe upon First Amendment rights, if you do not infringe on our Second Amendment rights.

this is having its moments. one can pass a bill creating a public fund for each city
and town to now decide to avail themselves of it in terms of being more secure
but one cannot demand that a private army be created willynilly purely by whim
that dispatches people with guns to towns and cities who did not at all ask for this.

ugghhh....what an idiot. We really need to push GOA because I noticed a lot of the gun stores around here push NRA, which means that the follower-types will be influenced by this kind of stupidity.

I think, first and foremost, they need to get rid of the no-gun zones, and then let the parents and staff of each school decide whether they want a private, armed security guard, and/or armed staff. Let each school figure out how to pay for it.

When I was in highschool, we had an armed security officer who roamed around the campus. He was actually pretty cool....caught us ditching class and smoking weed up in the stadium on more than one occasion, and just shoo'd us back to class. That was back in the 70s in Texas.

I went to Vin's website and searched for [gun nra] and found these hits:

http://www.vinsuprynowicz.com/?p=665 ‘Since some will not, others dare not lay them aside’

Christmas is almost here. Anyone who has friends or family who support the Second Amendment can buy a gift membership to GOA for just twenty bucks:

http://gunowners.co/gift-membership

Of course, it might make a great gift for those irritating gun-banning in-laws, too! ;) :D

The risk we run in this is that some people may decide to bring in the cops instead of a truly defense-oriented organization. :(

Shouldn't that be their choice? And those who disagree with it can vote with their feet. I seriously now believe that the lines need to be drawn between the free and the UNfree. Let it happen. Let us, as a society, begin to naturally and peacefully (if possible) create "free zones".

You know, the "voting with your feet" thing might be fine for some, but some of us have a huge investment in where we live. And I'm not talking about money, I'm talking about time and hard work. I built my house with my own hands, even the cabinets (kitchen & bath) and the trim (all custom cherry). And now, I'm getting ready to turn 58, so I'm not likely to do that again.

edit: And what about people that live on property that has been in the family for ages? How about the Constitutions (Fed and State) be followed?

Oh, a compromise. That's good, that's what we need more of /sarc

That's like saying we need to allow the people to choose more government if they want it. It affects US, too. The braindead masses are in no condition to make that kind of choice anyway, with decades of brainwashing still having a profound effect on the populace. But you're right, that's what state governments are for.

The problem is that cops are the antithesis to free market decisions. The free market choosing cops is like the free market choosing to regulate itself. Perhaps it's possible, but cops should never exist in the first place, at least not in their present form. Schools now are just a big conglomeration of the federal government. They are immune to the free market. They are all but immune to "voting with one's feet". The privacy of decision that you have suggested can only work when schools are privatized.

Then try to change it. That's just the nature of the market. Some people will be attracted to a certain action, product, or service, but will decide it's too risky. You are the latter.
