Reading the comments gave me a headache.

Yeah, but the numbers are based on the assumption that virtually all the people who voted for the Libertarian candidate would otherwise have voted for the Republican.

More likely, (IMHO) if there had been no Libertarian candidate, the voters who voted for the Libertarian would have split their votes between the Republican, or - MOST likely - simply not have voted at all.

That being said, it would be great if the Republicans actually came away believing they lost these seats because of voters defecting en masse to the Libertarians. Maybe they'll begin to realize how insipid and insane some of their positions appear to the average voter.
